The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red colour warning for extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today. The weather agency has further predicted cold wave conditions over Punjab and fog at isolated pockets over Himachal Pradesh till tomorrow.
According to IMD, squally weather with wind speeds reaching 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph will prevail along and off south Kerala coast and adjoining Lakshadweep area, over the Comorin area, over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, many parts of the west central Bay of Bengal, along and off the south Andhra Pradesh coast today. Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR has shifted from very poor to poor quality.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index of the region was recorded at 270 as of 7 AM today. In view of the poor air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management has imposed Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan in the national capital and adjoining areas.
