India Meteorological Department has forecast fairly widespread to widespread rainfall along with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and northeast India during the week. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall was witnessed over Assam and Meghalaya and Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim today.
Maximum temperatures were in the range of 40 to 46 degree Celsius over most parts of the country except western Himalayan region, northeast Bihar, and northeast India, where they were below 36 degrees. The highest maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees was reported at Banda in Uttar Pradesh.
Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds are likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi tomorrow and during 2nd to 5th May. Meanwhile, heat wave conditions very likely in some places of Vidarbha today and in West Rajasthan during 1st to 3rd May. Hot and humid weather conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Odisha from today till 1st May.
