IMD Forecasts Fog in Northeast India and UP; Heavy Rainfall Expected in Southern States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast shallow to moderate fog over northeast India and Uttar Pradesh during the next three to four days. The weather agency also predicted heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for today. The IMD added that the minimum temperature over Northwest India will gradually fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius during the next 4 days.
 
 
Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR continues to be in the very poor category. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 381 at 7 AM. In view of the poor air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management has imposed Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan in the national capital and adjoining areas.
