The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cold wave conditions at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh till tomorrow. The weather agency has also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema and Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the next two days.
Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR continues to be in the very poor category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 386 recorded at 7 AM today. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, most areas of the city crossed an AQI of 400. The AQI levels were recorded in Bawana at 437, Anand Vihar at 419, ITO area at 416, Punjabi Bagh at 401 and Pataparganj at 396. In view of the poor air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management has imposed Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan in the national capital and adjoining areas.
