Union Home Minister Amit Shah today paid tributes to Raja Rammohan Roy on his birth anniversary. In a social media post, Mr Shah said that through the establishment of the Brahmo Samaj, Raja Rammohan Roy awakened people against social superstitions, blind faith, and inequalities. The Home Minister added that through Gaudiya Vyakarana, Raja Rammohan Roy endowed the Bengali language with new ideologies and intellectual directions.

He further said that the contributions of Raja Rammohan Roy in the fields of education, social reform, and public administration have firmly strengthened the foundation of modern India. Mr Shah also noted that Raja Rammohan Roy’s ideologies and ideals will forever illuminate the path of nation-building and social awakening.
