Himachal Pradesh: Losar Festival from 18–20 February Marks Start of Fire Horse Year

In the world-famous tourist town of McLeod Ganj, the Tibetan exile community is busy with preparations to welcome their New Year, Losar. The festival will begin on the 18th and will be celebrated until 20 February. Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama has also arrived in McLeod Ganj, creating an atmosphere of joy among devotees and local residents.

On this occasion, members of the Tibetan community prepare a traditional delicacy called khapse in their homes and monasteries. During the celebrations, incense sticks are lit, and collective prayers are offered for the long life of the Dalai Lama and for the freedom of Tibet. The Losar festival is considered a symbol of the beginning of the Fire Horse Year.
