Himachal Pradesh hit by heavy rain and snow; orange alert for Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti

Due to the impact of a fresh western disturbance active over the Himalayan region, the weather in Himachal Pradesh has changed. Our correspondent reports that since midnight, rain and snowfall have been occurring in most parts of the state, leading to a drop in temperatures.

Active western disturbance resulted in rain and snowfall in most parts of the state, while strong winds have also been reported at some places, and there has been a sharp fall in both maximum and minimum temperatures across the state.

The Meteorological Centre Shimla has issued an orange alert for heavy snowfall and rainfall at some places in the districts of Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul and Spiti today. A yellow alert for hailstorm has also been issued for the districts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Solan, Sirmaur and Mandi. According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, due to the active western disturbance, adverse weather conditions are likely to continue in the state till January 27.
