Heavy rains continue to lash several parts of Telangana

In Telangana, heavy rains continue to lash several parts of the state resulting in steady inflows into different irrigation projects and overflowing rivulets at some places. Nizamabad, Nirmal and Jagitial districts received very heavy rainfall with Vempalle ‘of Nizamabad district recording the highest rainfall of 176.8 mm till 6AM this morning. Meanwhile, Hyderabad Met Centre predicted more rains for the next 24 hours due to the low-pressure area. In Hyderabad, moderate rainfall was recorded in almost all areas. Water levels at the Hussain Sagar in the city reached to brim.

 

Meanwhile, the road links between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have been cut off due to the flash floods and heavy rains lashing in NTR District. As per the officials, vehicular traffic has been suspended on some roads as the canals and streams were overflowing. Streams like Konda Vaagu, Kattaleru and Jalleru are on spate causing severe inconvenience to passengers travelling in border villages.

 

Due to incessant rains in River Godavari upper riparian areas and heavy inflowing into the river, the water level at Bhadrachalam reached 36.1 feet. Meanwhile, due to heavy inflows, 25 gates of the Taliperu Medium Irrigation Project have been opened this morning and the authorities have put 7 villages on alert as flood water is being released down-stream. People from the low-lying areas from a few villages have been evacuated to relief camps following breaches to Pedavagu in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
