HAL Clarifies Delay in LCA Tejas Mark 1A Delivery, Cites Awaited GE Engines

The Public Sector manufacturing hub HAL has today issued clarification on the delivery of LCA Tejas Mark 1A to the Indian Air Force. In a statement issued by the PSU, it has confirmed that five LCA Mark 1A aircrafts are fully ready for delivery, incorporating major contracted capabilities in accordance with the agreed specifications. An additional nine aircrafts were built and flown earlier. HAL has said that it is awaiting GE engines from the USA and the aircrafts will be ready for delivery after the receipt of these engines.

The delay in the delivery of F404 jet engines by the American company GE has caused a delay in the delivery of Tejas fighter aircrafts. HAL has, however, said that it had received five engines from GE, and the supply chain is positive. It has stressed that the future delivery outlook aligns with HALs delivery plans and assured that it will meet the guidance projected for the current financial year.
