In Gujarat, the state government today unveiled the new cottage and rural industries policy in Gandhinagar aiming to create 12 lakh more direct and indirect employment opportunities in the sector in coming five years. Launching the policy, the state Minister of cottage industries Balvantsinh Rajput said the new policy focuses on developing self sustaining cottage industries in the state by increasing credit facility, market access, skill and infrastructure development and promote and preserve traditional handicrafts of the state. Under the new policy, the maximum loan amount under the Shri Vajpayee Bankable Scheme has been increased from 8 lakhs rupees to 25 lakhs rupees and the subsidy amount from 1,25,000 rupees to 3,75,000 rupees.
