In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a massive search operation is being carried out across Gujarat to trace Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in the state. In Ahmedabad, over 400 suspected illegal immigrants have been detained from the Chandola Lake area. Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik visited the site today and directed officials to demolish unlawful constructions and disconnect unauthorised electricity connections. In Morbi, the Special Operations Group has detained around 10 Bangladeshi nationals during a similar crackdown. Search operations have been conducted in several South Gujarat areas, including Navsari, Jalalpore, Gandevi, Chikhli, Bilimora, and Khergam. Meanwhile, coastal security has been stepped up in Gir Somnath district. Authorities are conducting thorough checks of fishing boats and individuals at sea. Security arrangements at the Somnath Jyotirlinga temple have also been strengthened.
