The First phase of the census will begin in Gujarat from 1st June. Addressing a press conference in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Director of Census Operations Sujal J. Mayatra said that the Directorate of Census Operations in the state is undertaking preparations for Census 2027. For the first time, citizens will have the opportunity to participate in the census through the self-enumeration portal, SE.CENSUS.GOV.IN, introduced by the Government of India. From May 17 to 31, people will be able to complete self-enumeration on the portal. Under this initiative, citizens can voluntarily provide information online about their households, available facilities, assets, and other details in an easy, safe, and convenient manner.
Mr. Mayatra added that from June 1 to 30, designated Census Officers will conduct door-to-door household listing work to collect information. This exercise will be carried out through the HLO application, a mobile application developed for household listing during census fieldwork.
