Green ammonia agreements mark a significant step towards building self-reliant nation: Union Minister JP Nadda

Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers J P Nadda today said that the green ammonia agreements mark a significant step towards building a self-reliant nation and advancing the country’s clean energy transition. He said this while addressing the exchange of green ammonia agreements for the fertiliser sector under the National Green Hydrogen Mission in New Delhi.

Mr. Nadda said the initiative signifies the operationalisation of a green ammonia ecosystem and will play a key role in accelerating the shift towards sustainable energy. He added that the move will reduce import dependence in the fertiliser sector, strengthening domestic capabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said that energy security has become national security in the present global context. Mr Joshi said the agreements will strengthen India’s energy future, helping reduce dependence on imported grey ammonia. He added that the initiative is expected to save nearly 2.5 billion dollars in foreign exchange over the next decade. Highlighting India’s achievements, Mr Joshi said the country has demonstrated that economic growth and sustainability can go hand in hand.
