Government says India’s electricity demand hits record 270.82 gigawatts amid soaring temperatures

The Government said that India’s electricity demand hit a new record high in the last four days due to soaring temperatures across several parts of the country. The Ministry of Power said that yesterday, the daytime peak electricity demand was 270.82 gigawatts, which broke all previous records.

 

On Wednesday, it was more than 265 gigawatts, while on Monday and Tuesday, the demand was over 257 and 260 gigawatts. It said that the peak daytime demand usually occurs between 2 pm and 4 pm. The Ministry said that it is prepared to supply electricity as required due to the intense summer. It urged citizens to use electricity wisely and judiciously.
