A four-day National Skiing Championship and Winter Carnival has begun today at Auli in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. On the opening day, the women’s Joint Slalom event was held, in which Himachal Pradesh secured the top three positions, while Uttarakhand finished fourth and fifth.
On this occasion, Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said that the event is being organised to promote winter tourism and adventure sports in the state. He said that the state government is committed to developing Auli as a major hub for winter sports.
In the National Skiing Competition, 17 teams from various states, including the Army and ITBP, are participating in different events, including Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding.
