The first Nagaland Cooperative Conclave 2025 opened today in Kohima, marking a significant step toward strengthening the cooperative movement in the state. Organised to commemorate the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, the three-day event is being held under the theme “Cooperatives – A Catalyst for Economic Transformation.”
Speaking at the inaugural session, Nagaland’s Cooperation Minister, Jacob Zhimomi, urged stakeholders to diversify cooperative ventures and explore opportunities beyond traditional sectors, including tourism. He underscored the vital role of youth participation in sustaining and expanding the cooperative ecosystem, and highlighted the importance of digital innovation in driving new growth and ensuring long-term resilience.
A highlight of the programme was the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding between National Cooperative Exports Limited and Nagaland’s MARCOFED aimed at expanding market linkages, export opportunities and empowering cooperative producers. During the event, the NCDC Regional Awards for Cooperative Excellence and Merit 2025, conferred by the National Cooperative Development Corporation, Ministry of Cooperation, were presented to 10 societies across five categories. The Minister also inaugurated the exhibition stalls showcasing a variety of local products, including fruits and vegetables, handicrafts, processed foods, and traditional pottery. The conclave will host seminars, panel discussions, and Business to Business sessions to promote knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration among cooperative societies, entrepreneurs, and policymakers
