Festival of Lights Diwali Being Celebrated Across The Country Today With Traditional Fervour And Gaiety

 
The Festival of Lights, Diwali, is being celebrated across the country today with traditional fervour and gaiety. The festival, which marks the victory of good over evil, is celebrated by lighting up houses, temples and other public places. People also worship the Goddess of wealth, Lakshmi, on the occasion. Streets and markets in various cities have been decorated with colourful lights and flowers. In the national capital Delhi, people in large numbers are seen thronging to different markets to purchase items, including Swadeshi items for Diwali celebrations.
 
 
In view of this festival, the Delhi Police has made elaborate security arrangements across the city. To ensure a safe and secure festival for all residents, special security measures have been put in place at key markets, crowded public places and commercial hubs inviting high footfall. An adequate number of Delhi Police personnel have been deployed along with Central Armed Police Force personnel as force multipliers across all police districts of Delhi. Anti-Sabotage checks are being done by the police on a regular basis at busy markets and other places, including railway stations and inter-state bus terminals, which have high footfall during festivals.
 
 
Major Hospitals in Delhi, including All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospitals, are fully prepared to deal with the cases of burn injuries during Diwali. The Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit of AIIMS, New Delhi, is fully prepared to deal with the cases of burn incidents in view of the Diwali festival. Dr Maneesh Singhal, Head of the Department of Burns and Surgery, AIIMS, said that ICU, Beds and Operation theatres have been kept ready and doctors and nurses have been deployed for the management of burn cases. 
 
 
In RML Hospital, Dr Mukesh Sharma of the Burns and Plastic Surgery Department said, beds and Operation theatres have been reserved for providing immediate treatment to patients suffering from burn injuries.
 
 
On the other hand, the Delhi Fire Department has identified 41 spots where fire brigade vehicles, including 24 quick response vehicles, are stationed to tackle fire-related incidents. Talking to Akashvani News, Deputy Chief Fire Officer A.K. Malik said that to ensure the safety of the people of the national capital. Delhi Fire Service is working with full strength, and all arrangements are in place. Recently, the Supreme Court had permitted the sale and bursting of green firecrackers in the Delhi-NCR region between the 18th and 21st of this month, limiting the timings between 6 AM to 7 AM and 8 PM to 10 PM.
