Estonia President Alar Karis met President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi today. President Murmu said that relations between India and Estonia are anchored in shared democratic values, respect for international law, and a common commitment to a rules-based global order. She noted that Estonia has made immense contributions to the digital and AI world. The President said that the participation of Estonia in the AI Impact Summit adds great value to the Summit, particularly given its leadership role in AI and education.
The President said that India and Estonia have a shared conviction that Artificial Intelligence must be a force for global good and said that the cooperation of the two countries in cybersecurity and the safe deployment of AI gains more meaning in this world of increasing uncertainties. President Murmu pointed out that India and Estonia have had meaningful cooperation in the digital sector.
She said Estonia excels in technology and IT, and India has a vibrant startup ecosystem, and thus, collaboration combining Estonia’s technological expertise with India’s dynamic startups could benefit both countries.
The President appreciated Estonia’s support for the successful conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and said that India deeply values its relations with the EU and its member states. The two leaders agreed that there is immense potential for further deepening bilateral cooperation between India and Estonia.
They expressed confidence that the visit would help maintain positive momentum in bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
