The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced that the Assam Legislative Assembly polls will be held on April 9, with counting of votes scheduled for May 4.

 

The notification for the Assembly elections of Assam is scheduled to be issued today by the Election Commission of India.  Of the 126 seats, nine have been reserved for Scheduled Castes and 19 for Scheduled Tribes. There are 2 crore 50 lakh voters, and polling will be held at 31,486 polling stations across the state.
