Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. During a phone conversation, the two officials reviewed developments in ongoing consultations on implementing the U.S. peace plan for Gaza and stressed the importance of unifying the West Bank and Gaza under Palestinian administration.
They also discussed deliberations at the U.N. Security Council on deploying an international stabilisation force in Gaza, emphasising that its mandate must support recovery and reconstruction efforts. Both ministers reiterated their rejection of Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank, warning that such actions threaten peace and stability. The current ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on October 10, following two years of conflict. The truce was mediated by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States.
