In West Bengal, the Enforcement Directorate has launched extensive raids today in connection with the public distribution corruption case. Operations are underway in Kolkata, Burdwan, and Habra, targeting nine different addresses. The raids are being conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, following allegations of widespread irregularities in the public distribution system.
Searches are currently taking place in South Kolkata’s Brahmapur and Regent Park areas.
In Habra, ED teams, accompanied by central forces, are questioning rice traders and searching their homes and businesses. Among those under scrutiny are Samir Chandra, Sagar Saha, and Partha Saha, with multiple properties being examined. A rice mill in Burdwan is also part of the investigation.
Today’s raids mark another chapter in the ongoing investigation into corruption in public distribution system across West Bengal.
