Devotees take holy dip in the rivers on Mauni Amavasya in Prayagraj

In Uttar Pradesh, lakhs of devotees are taking holy dip in the rivers on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. This is also the third important snan of the annual religious event of Magh Mela, held at Sangam in Prayagraj. 
 
Akashvani reports that devotees thronged Sangam – a confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical river Saraswati – at Prayagraj from early morning to take a holy dip on Mauni Amavasya. Saints and seers of many Akhadas, including  Kinnar Akhara also took holy dip at Sangam.
 
The authorities have made special arrangements for pilgrims as many makeshift pontoon bridges, tents and security checkpoints have been made. 
 
This time, more than 3 km long ghats have been prepared by the administration. yesterday only one crore 50 lakh people took holy dip on Sangam.  
 
Today also administration is expecting around 3 crore people to take bath in the Sangam area. DM  of Prayagraj said that all arrangements are in place and the police and administration are taking care of everything. 
 
Devotees also flocked to the Ghats of Ganga, Yamuna and other important rivers in other cities like Varanasi, Mirzapur, Hapur, Ayodhya and Kanpur. From early morning, devotees are taking bath in the rivers and offering prayers.
