The Defence Ministry today signed a 1,950 crore rupees contract with Bharat Electronics Limited- BEL for the procurement of two Mountain Radars for the Indian Air Force in New Delhi. The Ministry informed that the deal, signed under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category, aligns with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. The radars have been designed and developed by the Electronics and Radar Development Establishment under the Defence Research and Development Organisation and will be manufactured by BEL. According to the Ministry, the systems will boost air defence capability, strengthen national security, and reduce dependence on foreign equipment.
