Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that it is extremely worrying to find highly educated individuals and those associated with prestigious professions involved in activities against the nation and society. He was addressing the foundation day celebration of a college in Udaipur today. 

 

Mr Singh said that modern India draws strength and pride from recognising its ancient past and cultural traditions. He said that merely acquiring higher education is not sufficient if a person lacks human values and national commitment. He said, it is worrying that even some well-educated people from reputed professions are being found involved in anti-national and anti-social activities.

 

Referring to the bomb blast in Delhi, he said, the names of educated professionals, such as doctors, emerged in connection with the serious crime. He said, this clearly highlights the importance of character building and moral consciousness alongside education. He also said that India is moving towards becoming fully self-reliant in the field of defence production.
