The deep depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Tamilnadu Puducherry coasts have moved slowly northwards with the speed of 3 kmph during the past six hours and moved at about 50 km of Chennai, 140 km near Puducherry, 160 km from Cuddalore and 170 km near Nellore.
The minimum distance of the deep depression from the Coasts is about 35 km. It is very likely to move slowly northwards parallel and maintain the same density today and is likely to weaken into a depression during the next 12 hours. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely at a few places over Tiruvallur and Chennai.
