President Droupadi Murmu has said that Constitution of India is country’s national epic and following its provisions is everyones’ duty. The President said this while addressing the Constitution Day celebrations organized by the Supreme Court in New Delhi today.
The President said that Constitution is the source of unity in diversity. She observed that despite being a legislative document, Indian Constitution became a reference book for the people through public participation and widespread representation. She emphasized that children should be provided with interesting information about the Constitution to ensure that future generations continue to feel connected to it. She said, Constitution provides detailed provisions for the powers, duties, and procedures of the executive, legislature, and judiciary.
The President expressed confidence that these three organs of government will continue to strengthen constitutional system in the discharge of their respective duties through mutual coordination. She said that citizens will benefit from a coordinated constitutional system, and the country will move faster toward the goal of becoming a developed nation.The President also stressed that justice should also be delivered at door-steps like other services, and legal aid should be easily accessible for the people at grassroots level.
