Communications Ministry, BSE Partner to Train Postal Staff as Mutual Fund Distributors

The Ministry of Communications and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi yesterday to train and certify postal employees as mutual fund distributors. The select postal workers will provide investor services and facilitate mutual fund transactions through the platform. Ministry hailed it as a major step towards strengthening financial inclusion and expanding access to investment products across the country.

It added that the initiative leverages India Post’s vast postal network as a catalyst for economic activity in rural, semi-urban and underserved regions. It will also enable India Post to offer customers access to contemporary investment avenues, enhancing its role as a key financial service provider.

The Ministry expressed optimism that this collaboration with the country’s largest mutual fund distribution platform will democratize access to investment opportunities and promote wider participation in financial markets. The MoU will remain valid for three years, with provisions for renewal.
