Cold wave continues in J&K; Shopian emerges coldest at minus 7.5 degree celsius

In Jammu and Kashmir, the cold wave conditions continued across the Union Territory as most places in the Kashmir valley recorded sub-zero minimum temperatures. In the Kashmir region, Shopian emerged as the coldest place, recording a low of minus 7.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Pulwama at minus 7.0 degrees and Sopore at minus 6.9 degrees Celsius. 
 
Rajouri was the coldest in the Jammu region, recording a sub-zero temperature of minus 0.6 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has forecast mainly dry weather across the region till tomorrow, while light rain or snowfall is expected at isolated to scattered higher reaches between the 16th and 17th of January. The cold conditions are likely to persist, especially in the higher reaches, as winter continues to tighten its grip on the region.
