Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced a significant waiver of penalty interest for beneficiaries of the Gujarat Rural Housing Board. As per the decision, a one-time relief scheme has been introduced to exempt rural families from paying the two per cent monthly penalty interest on their outstanding housing instalments.
This decision is set to provide financial relief to over 9,000 rural families, with a total interest waiver amounting to approximately 154 crore rupees. To avail of this benefit, beneficiaries must repay their entire outstanding principal amount within the next six months. By settling the principal amount, these families will now be granted full ownership rights, officially becoming homeowners. The official release stated that the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ensuring ‘Housing for All’, providing dignity and a permanent roof to thousands of families across Gujarat.
