Cinematic Highlights Mark Day Six of IFFI 2025 in Goa

The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Panaji, Goa remains a prime spot for everything in cinema. On the sixth day of the festival, film lovers in India and around the world enjoyed illuminating masterclass, exclusive film screenings and many more.
 
 
Nigerian film ‘My Father’s Shadow’ recieved its India premiere today at IFFI, which is in contention for the Golden Peacock for best movie. It follows the story of a father and his two sons in Lagos over the course of a single day during the 1993 Nigerian Elections. Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, director Akinola Davies Jr talked about the beautiful intricacies of father-son relationship, historical struggle for democracy in Nigeria and his bond with India.
 
 
In other screenings, Mexican film – Janitor and Brazilian film – Elephant Memory recieved their World Premiere, while Iranian film – K Poper and Qatari film – It’s A Sad And Beautiful World recieved their Asia Premiere.
 
 
In a masterclass on SFX and stunts, Special Effects Co-ordinator and Academy Award winner Christopher Charles Corbould talked about the planning and execution behind some of the biggest hits from Casino Royale to The Dark Knight and Inception.
 
Meanwhile, acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur described AI as “the most democratic medium for filmmaking”, emphasising that it has dismantled traditional barriers and gatekeeping within the industry.
 
 
A special tribute was also paid to Bollywood legend Dharmendra. Film Director Rahul Rawail reflected on the life, legacy and impact of the Indian He-Man.
