In Nagaland, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Naga People’s Front have decided to merge and form a single regional political party under the banner of the Naga People’s Front.
Following the merger, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has been elected as Leader of the Naga People’s Front Legislature Party. The NPF Legislature Party now has 34 members in the house of 60-member Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
The merger decision was taken during NDPPs 6th General Convention held in Kohima yesterday attended by party members and representatives from across the state. State Minister Mr K G Kenye while moving the merger resolution said the move will strength the regional political identity of the Naga people.
