A high-level review meeting on the comprehensive development of the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh was held in Raipur today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The meeting discussed the government’s priorities with regard to peace, good governance and development in the Bastar region.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the State and Central Governments are jointly committed, with the highest priority, to bringing Bastar into the mainstream of development. He said a comprehensive action plan for the development of Bastar for the next three years will be prepared and implemented in mission mode.
Mr Sai said that the end of Naxalism, which had long remained a major obstacle to development in the region, has now reached a decisive stage. He added that, along with the elimination of Naxalism, there is a need for rapid expansion of basic facilities such as education, health, employment, roads, drinking water, electricity and communication in the Bastar division
