The Centre has postponed the meeting with farmer unions scheduled for May 4th, saying it would be inappropriate to hold one without the representatives of the state government. Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Purna Chandra Kishan, said in a letter to the farmer unions that it would be inappropriate not to include the representatives of the Punjab government as demanded by both the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha. The Centre has asked the leaders of both forums to reconsider their demand. At the same time, it has been said that the next date of the meeting will be decided after getting information from both forums.
