CAQM issues order for Stage one GRAP in Delhi amid poor air quality

The Commission for Air Quality Management has issued an order regarding the implementation of actions under the Stage one of extant schedule of GRAP in Delhi NCR. The decision was taken by the Sub-Committee on GRAP during a meeting held today after reviewing the current air quality scenario in the region and forecasts issued by the India Meteorological Department.According to the Commission, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 208 today, placing it in the poor category. Forecasts indicate that the air quality is likely to remain in the poor category over the coming days. Under Stage-One of GRAP, all concerned agencies across the NCR have been directed to intensify anti-pollution measures and maintain strict vigilance to prevent further deterioration in air quality.
The Commission has also urged citizens to follow the GRAP Stage-One citizen charter. It said that the Sub-Committee will continue to closely monitor the air quality situation and take further decisions based on future AQI trends and weather forecasts.
