जहां उत्तर भारत आग उगलती गर्मी का सामना कर रहा है, वहीं दूसरी तरफ पश्चिम बंगाल में एक और बड़ी मुश्किल जल्द सामने आने वाली है, जिसकी चेतावनी मौसम विभाग ने दे दी है.
मौसम विभाग ने कहा कि बंगाल की खाड़ी के ऊपर बना गहरा दबाव रविवार शाम तक चक्रवाती तूफान में बदल सकता है और 26 मई की रात को पश्चिम बंगाल और बांग्लादेश के समुद्र तटों पर दस्तक दे सकता है। बंगाल की खाड़ी में बन रहा चक्रवाती तूफान 110-120 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे की रफ्तार से दस्तक दे सकता है। यह 135 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे तक की रफ्तार पकड़ सकता है। मौसम विभाग ने 26-27 मई को पश्चिम बंगाल और उत्तरी ओडिशा के तटीय जिलों में अत्यधिक भारी बारिश की चेतावनी जारी की है। पूर्वोत्तर भारत के कुछ हिस्सों में 27-28 मई को अत्यधिक भारी वर्षा हो सकती है।
तूफान के दस्तक देने के समय समुद्र में 1.5 से 2 मीटर ऊंची लहरें उठने की आशंका है जिससे तटीय पश्चिम बंगाल और बांग्लादेश के निचले इलाके डूब सकते हैं। मौसम विभाग ने मछुआरों को 27 मई की सुबह तक बंगाल की खाड़ी के उत्तरी भाग में समुद्र में न जाने की चेतावनी दी है। मौसम विभाग ने 26 और 27 मई को पश्चिम बंगाल के तटीय जिलों (दक्षिण और उत्तर 24 परगना) के लिए रेड अलर्ट जारी किया है। यहां कुछ स्थानों पर भारी बारिश होने का अनुमान है।

The IMD warned of extremely heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of West Bengal and heavy to very heavy rainfall in north Odisha on Sunday and Monday owing to the weather system. Extremely heavy precipitation is also likely in Assam and Meghalaya, and heavy to very heavy rains in the other northeastern states of Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on Monday and Tuesday.

A resting place is constructed by the villagers at LUNGPOI SHET, a source of water for the Mithuns which takes 3 hrs trek from the village which ultimately turns out to be the base camp for visitors. Balasore Lok Sabha constituency in Odisha is all set to once again witness a triangular contest as three major political parties, the state’s ruling BJD, the opposition BJP and Congress have fielded potential candidates in the fray. The BJP has fielded former Union Minister and sitting MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, while former Union Minister Srikant Kumar Jena is vying for the honour on a Congress ticket. The BJD has landed BJP turncoat Lekhashree Samantasinghar. The high profile constituency is going through a high voltage campaign by star campaigners of all the major parties and voting will be held on the last phase of general elections, on the 1st of June.
“Balasore is one of the 21 Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha. The constituency comprises seven Assembly segments including Badasahi, Jaleswar, Bhograi, Basta, Balasore, Remuna an Nilgiri. The constituency is a general seat. Balasore Lok Sabha seat is set to witness yet another three-way contest, with three prominent political parties putting forth their potential candidates. Former Union Minister and incumbent MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi has been nominated by the BJP, while former Union Minister Srikant Kumar Jena will be representing the Congress party. Lekhashree Samantasinghar, who was previously associated with the BJP, has been chosen by the ruling BJD. Balasore has a history of intriguing electoral outcomes, as voters have not shown permanent allegiance to any specific party or candidate. In the 2009 elections, despite receiving only 35.17 percent of the votes, Srikant Jena emerged victorious as the Congress candidate. हिन्दी साहित्य में कथाकार, गीतकार और एक समीक्षक के रूप में विशेष जगह रखने वाले श्रीकांत वर्मा की आज पुण्यतिथि है। उन्होंने एक पत्रकार के रूप में भी काम किया। 1956 से नरेश मेहता के साथ प्रख्यात साहित्यिक पत्रिका ‘कृति’ का दिल्ली से संपादन एवं प्रकाशन कार्य किया। दिल्ली में वे पत्रकारिता से भी जुड़े। उनकी कुछ मुख्य रचनाओं की बात करें तो काव्य रचनाएँ – भटका मेघ , मायादर्पण, दिनारंभ, जलसाघर, मगध और गरुड़ किसने देखा हैं। उन्होंने उपान्यास दूसरी बार भी लिखा। श्रीकांत वर्मा का कहानीसंग्रह – झाड़ी , संवाद , घर , दूसरे के पैर , ठंड और साथ भी शामिल हैं। श्रीकांत वर्मा को कई पुरस्कार और सम्मान भी मिला। इनमें मध्यप्रदेश सरकार का तुलसी पुरस्कार, आचार्य नन्ददुलारे वाजपेयी पुरस्कार, शिखर सम्मान, केरल सरकार का कुमार आशान राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार भी शामिल है। इसके अलावा उन्हें मगध नामक कविता संग्रह के लिए मररणोपरांत साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार भी दिया गया। जीवन के अंतिम क्षणों में श्रीकांत वर्मा को अनेक बीमारियों ने घेर रखा था। अमरीका में वे कैंसर का इलाज कराने के लिए गए थे। 26 मई, 1986 को वहीं न्यूयार्क में उनका निधन हुआ।

Rajalaskhmi Devi
Although her usual place of work has always been Calcutta, Rajlakshmi was born in Meerut in the then Northern Provinces of India in 1902. She received training in music and dance before joining the professional stage in Calcutta in 1930. The play was Grihaprabesh by Tagore. From then on she became a regular actress of the Bengali stage and finally joined films, her first movie being Palli Samaj (1932). She carried on as a successful stage actress and also took part as a character artiste in films and went on to act in over two hundred films in different languages like Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Assameseetc. She met with a car accident while returning from outdoor shooting of a Bengali film Jiban Jignasa (1971)and although she made a recovery it was never complete and she suffered from anaemia thereafter and kept indifferent health till the end on the 26th day of May, 1972.

She was a recipient of the Kalaimamani award. In 2002, Government of India awarded Manorama the Padma Shri for her contribution to the arts. She received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film Pudhiya Padhai (1989) and Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award – South (1995)
