To boost the infrastructure and development works, Chief Secretary of Union Territory of Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, convenes various meetings with the concerned officials in district Kargil. More from our Correspondent from Leh.
In his visit to district Kargil, chief Secretary of Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, convened various separate meetings with the officials to review the various infrastructure and development projects. The Chief Secretary visited Civil Airport Kargil to assess the feasibility of its expansion and reviewed the status of the land availability at the airport, the existing runway length and feasibility for the expansion of the fencing. Dr. Pawan Kotwal visited the alignment site of National Highway (NH-301), starting from Kurbathang and inspected the progress of works and sought on-ground detailing from the executing agency. In another Separate meeting with the officials, the Chief Secretary reviewed progress of the development works across the district including the financial status of District Capex. For the beautification of the town, Dr. Kotwal took detailed stock of the Sewage treatment plant for Kargil, Town, Solid Waste management Plant , animal rescue center and conservation and preservation of the Old Bazaar of Kargil. To mitigate the Power crisis in the far flung areas of district Kargil, especially in winter season, Chief Secretary assessed the progress of the Transmission projects under Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP-15, Line -2 and the 220KV GIS Substation at Padum, Zanskar. पश्चिम बंगाल का दुर्गा पूजा एक विश्व प्रसिद्ध उत्साव है। यहाँं रहनेवाले बंगाली, हिन्दी भाषी तथा नेपाली गोरखा समाज बडे पवित्रता एवं श्रद्धा भक्ति से नौ दिनों तक माँ दुर्गा की नौ दिन उपासना करते हैं । विगत नवरात्रि से ही यह उस्सव धूमधाम व श्रद्धा भक्ति के साथ शुरू हो गया। उत्तर बंगाल में हजारों पूजा पण्डाल सजने लगे हैं। विभिन्न थिमों पर आधारित पूजा मण्डपो को अन्तिम रूप दिया जा रहा है। एक तरफ मन्दिरों मे अखण्ड पूजा अर्चना की जा रही है,घरों में घट स्थापना कर शक्ति की आराधना हो रही है दूसरी तरफ बाजारों को सजाया गया है और दार्जिलिंग में घरेलू पर्यटकों की काफी भीड़ दिखाई दे रही है । पर्यटकों की भीड़ को देखते हुए दार्जिलिंग हिमालयन रेलवे ने अपने अल्प दूरी के टय ट्रेन राइड के तीन अतिरिक्त फेरो को भी बढा दिया ।
दार्जिलिंग पहाड़ी क्षेत्र तथा तराई डूवर्स में नवरात्र के नौ दिन विशेष शक्ति पूजा द्वारा देवी दुर्गा की पूजा घर घर की जाति है। दार्जिलिंग पहाड़ तथा तराई डुवर्स के नेपाली भाषी गोरखा समुदायद्वारा जगह जगह विशाल फूलपाती शोभायात्रा निकालने की तैयारियां भी जोरों पर है। सप्तमी के दिन दार्जिलिंग मिरीक कलिम्पोंग सिल्लीगुडी व डुवर्स में फूलपाती में माँ दूर्गा की भव्य डोली यात्रा निकाली जाती है, जिस में परम्परागत वेषभूषा व गाजे बाजे के साथ हजारों नर-नारी हर्ष उल्लास के साथ शोभायात्राओं में भाग लेते हैं। परिक्रमा के लिए अशोक चौरसिया, आकाशवाणी कर्सिंयाग।

Benchmark domestic equity indices, Sensex and Nifty, ended with losses of around half a per cent today amid broad-based sell off across most sectors. The Sensex declined 386 points, to close at 81 thousand and 716, while Nifty dropped 113 points, to settle at 25 thousand and 57. In the global crude oil market, Brent Crude was trading around 0.9 per cent up at 68 dollars and 22 cents per barrel, and WTI Crude was also trading over 0.9 per cent up at 64 dollars per barrel, when reports last came in.
In the Indian bullion market, 24-karat gold was trading down at 1,13,870 rupees per 10 grams, and silver 999 fine was also trading down at 1,34,320 rupees per kilogram, when reports last came in.

भूपति मोहन सेन का जन्म 3 जनवरी, सन 1888 को आजादी से पूर्व बंगाल में हुआ था।
उनके पिता राज मोहन सेन गणित के प्रोफेसर और राजशाही गवर्नमेंट कॉलेज के उप-प्राचार्य थे। उनकी माता निशी तारा देवी बहुत ही धार्मिक स्वभाव की समर्पित महिला थीं।
भूपति मोहन सेन ने कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय के प्रेसीडेंसी कॉलेज और गणित विभाग में पढ़ाया। वह ‘बोस संस्थान’ के शासी निकाय के सदस्य भी थे।
सन 1974 में भारत सरकार द्वारा भूपति मोहन सेन ‘पद्म भूषण’ से सम्मानित किये गये थे।

2-राजा रमन्ना (अंग्रेज़ी: Raja Ramanna, जन्म- 28 जनवरी, 1925; मृत्यु- 24 सितंबर, 2004) भारतीय परमाणु वैज्ञानिक थे जिन्होंने भारत के परमाणु कार्यक्रम के विकास में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई। वे सन 1964 में भारत के परमाणु कार्यक्रम में शामिल हुए थे और प्रारंभ में प्रसिद्ध परमाणु वैज्ञानिक होमी जहाँगीर भाभा की देखरेख में कार्य किया और उनके निधन के बाद सन 1967 में इस कार्यक्रम के निदेशक बन गए। उन्होंने परमाणु हथियारों के विकास से सम्बंधित वैज्ञानिक शोध का निरिक्षण किया और बढ़ावा दिया। वे सन 1974 में भारत के पहले परमाणु परिक्षण (स्मायिलिंग बुद्धा) करने वाले वैज्ञानिक दल के मुखिया भी थे।

3-पद्मिनी रामचंद्रन (13 दिसंबर 1932 – 24 सितंबर 2006) एक भारतीय अभिनेत्री और प्रशिक्षित भरतनाट्यम नृत्यांगना थीं, जिन्होंने 250 से ज़्यादा भारतीय फ़िल्मों में अभिनय किया। [ उन्होंने तमिल , हिंदी , मलयालम , तेलुगु और रूसी भाषा की फ़िल्मों में अभिनय किया । पद्मिनी, अपनी बड़ी बहन ललिता और छोटी बहन रागिनी के साथ, ” त्रावणकोर बहनें ” कहलाती थीं । आजीविका 16 साल की उम्र में पद्मिनी को हिंदी फिल्म कल्पना (1948) में एक नर्तकी के रूप में लिया गया, जिसने उनके करियर की शुरुआत की। उन्होंने अपने करियर के पहले दौर में लगभग 30 वर्षों तक लगातार फिल्मों में अभिनय किया।

Mohinder Amarnath Bhardwaj was born on this day in 1950. He is a former Indian cricketer and cricket analyst. He is the son of Lala Amarnath, the first post-independence captain of India. Mohinder was the vice captain of the Indian team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup, where he was the player of the final. He was also a part of the Indian squad which won the 1985 World Championship of Cricket.
Mohinder is commonly mentioned by players and cricket pundits as the best Indian batsman against express pace. In 2009, he received the C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honour Indian board can bestow on a former player.

4-आरती साहा (अंग्रेज़ी: Arati Saha, जन्म- 24 सितम्बर, 1940, कोलकाता; मृत्यु- 23 अगस्त, 1994) भारत की प्रसिद्ध महिला तैराक थीं। वे भारत तथा एशिया की ऐसी पहली महिला तैराक थीं, जिसने इंग्लिश चैनल तैरकर पार किया था। आरती साहा ने यह करनामा वर्ष 29 सितम्बर, 1959 में कर दिखाया था और 1960 में उन्हें ‘पद्मश्री’ से सम्मानित किया गया था। आरती साहा ‘पद्मश्री’ प्राप्त करने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला खिलाड़ी थीं। उनको “हिंदुस्तानी जलपरी” कहा जाता है।

Asit Sen was born on this day in 1922. He was an Indian film director, cinematographer, documentary Filmmaker and screenwriter, who worked in both Bengali and Hindi cinema. He was born in Dhaka, British India. He directed 17 feature films in Hindi and Bengali, and was most known for the films Deep Jweley Jai (1959) and Uttar Falguni (1963) in Bengali, Mamta (1966), Khamoshi (1969), Anokhi Raat (1968) and Safar (1970) in Hindi.
