On 31st July 1995, India heard its first-ever mobile ring- a sound that marked the dawn of a digital era. The historic call connected the then Union Minister of Communications Shri Sukh Ram in Delhi with West Bengal Chief Minister Shri Jyoti Basu in Kolkata. What seemed like just a simple conversation was, in fact, the beginning of a communication revolution that would transform how 1.4 billion Indians connect, work, and dream today.
From receiving calls to participating in social media, entertainment to studies, banking to a host of other activities, made possible by super-cheap data, India has seen a telecom revolution. With 85.5% of Indian households having at least one smartphone, mobile phones have become India’s bank, classroom, television. In rural regions, farmers are leveraging mobile-based tools such as the Digital Crop Survey to conduct ground surveys, while also accessing vital information and services through platforms like the mKisan Portal and the National Pest Surveillance System, NPSS app, including market prices, weather updates, advisories, and pest alerts.

According to a market research, 5G smartphone shipments surged to 82% of total shipments last year, reflecting a remarkable 49% Year over Year growth. INTERNATIONAL RED PANDA DAY :
Today is international Red Panda Day. Red Pandas, native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China, are an endangered species that are legally protected in countries like India, Nepal, Bhutan, and China. To raise awareness regarding the conservation of these beautiful animals, every third Saturday of September is celebrated as International Red Panda Day. Launched in 2010 by the Red Panda Network (RPN), the day highlights threats like habitat loss, poaching, and climate change, and encourages action through education, fundraising, and supporting local conservation initiatives.
Red Pandas were discovered roughly 50 years before the giant pandas. In the last 20-odd years, the global population of red pandas has declined by roughly 50 percent. According to some reports, there may be as few as 2,500 pandas left in the entire world.The estimation is scary enough and highlights the need to conserve the species.

National Award-Winning film, Chalo Jeete Hain is being screened nationwide across lakhs of schools and nearly 500 cinema halls to mark the 75th Birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is inspired by a childhood incident from the life of Prime Minister Modi. The film tells the story of a young boy – Naru, who is deeply influenced by Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy and strives to make a difference in his small world. Meanwhile, the school education and literacy department of Ministry of Education has directed all schools in the country to screen the film.

Dhordo in Kutch, which was renowned as World’s Best Tourism Village, and for its annual Rann Utsav, has now officially become the fourth Solar Village of Gujarat. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually dedicated Dhordo as a Solar Village at Samudra Se Samriddhi’ programme in Bhavnagar.
Dhordo village in Kutch, recognised by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) as the ‘Best Tourism Village’, has now become fully solar-powered. ‘With this milestone, Dhordo joins Modhera in Mehsana, Sukhi in Kheda, and Masali in Banaskantha as the fourth solar village of Gujarat. Under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, every residential electricity connection in Dhordo village has been solarised, allowing houses to generate their own power. As part of this initiative, 81 homes have been equipped with solar rooftops, adding a capacity of 177 kilowatts. The project is expected to produce 2.95 lakh units of electricity annually, bringing an estimated benefit of ₹16,064 per year to each home. Miyan Hussain, Sarpanch of Dhordo village, shared that With solar rooftops now installed in every home, electricity bills will be greatly reduced, providing significant relief to the villagers.
Beyond reducing electricity bills, villagers will also earn from surplus power supplied to the grid. Altogether, Dhordo is projected to gain over ₹13 lakh annually through combined savings and additional income, setting an example of clean energy-driven prosperity. With India rapidly moving ahead with the vision of developed and Self reliant India by 2047, a small village like Dhordo has set a benchmark in sustainable development, strengthening Gujarat’s leadership in renewable power and its commitment to a greener future.
