Manipur –

 

Due to different altitude levels of hill ranges the climatic condition also varies within the State. Therefore, some plants and animals are found in a particular place. The GI tagged Chilli plant- Sirarakhong Chilli is one of them. It is grown only at Sirarakhong Village in Ukhrul district. In aim to promote and preserve this unique chilli plant, Sirarakhong Festival is organised annually at Sirarakhong Village in Ukhrul. This year, the festival kicked off from  yesterday. Let’s hear more from our Imphal Correspondent JJ Thokchom.

“Sirarakhong Chilli also known locally as Sirarakhong Hathei is grown only at Sirarakhong Village of Ukhrul district of Manipur which is around sixty seven kilometre far away from capital city Imphal. This unique chilli has a distinctive taste and moderate heat. Most of the households  at Sirarakhong village engaged in chilli cultivation. The villagers said that there is a legend on how Sirarakhong Chilli or Sirarakhong Hathei is only found and grown in their village and said that the chilli plant is a gift from the god. Agro- Scientists commented that the Sirarakhong village is suitable in terms of its altitude and climatic conditions for Sirarakhong Chilli. This chilli product is now available across the world including online markets. To promote this chilli, every year Sirarakhong Hathei Festival is organised at Sirarakhong Village. This year, the three-day 14th Sirarakhong Hathei Festival kicked off at the village from yesterday. The festival was inaugurated by Manipur’s Commissioner of Horticulture and Soil Conservation- Thaithuilung Pamei, IAS. In his inaugural Speech, the Commissioner said  about the the uniqueness of the natural colour of Hathei. The 14th edition of the Sirarakhong Hathei Chilli Festival, not only celebrates a highly prized GI-tagged chilli but also seeks to foster economic opportunity, environmental awareness, and cultural pride. हैदराबाद –

आज हैदराबाद मुक्ति दिन मनाया जा रहा है. उस वक्त हैदराबाद स्टेट में होने के कारण महाराष्ट्र का मराठवाडा प्रांत भी आज ही के दिन निजाम के शासन से मुक्त हो कर, स्वतंत्र भारत में सम्मिलित हुआ था. वैसे तो भारत देश १५ अगस्त १९४७ को स्वतंत्र हुआ, लेकिन इस स्वतंत्रता के लिये हैदराबाद स्टेट की जनता को तेरह महिने और दो दिन प्रतीक्षा करनी पडी. फिरसे स्वतंत्रता संग्राम छेडना पडा

“हैदराबाद प्रांत पर उस वक्त भी निजाम की सत्ता थी. महाराष्ट्र, कर्नाटक और तेलंगना इन तीन राज्यों में फैले हुये निजाम स्टेट की जनता को स्वतंत्रता के लिये एक और संग्राम लडना पडा. छत्रपति संभाजी नगर के सीनियर एडवोकेट अनंत उमरीकर ने उन दिनों की स्मृतियों को आकाशवाणी के साथ साझा किया

१५ अगस्त को भारत जरूर स्वतंत्र हुआ, लेकिन निजाम संस्थान में महाराष्ट्र का जो भाग था, वो भाग स्वतंत्र नहीं हुआ था. महाराष्ट्र का मराठवाडा, कर्नाटक और तेलंगणा यह तीन प्रांत, जो निजाम संस्थान का हिस्सा थे, स्वतंत्र नहीं हुये थे. उनको स्वतंत्रता मिली, १७ सितंबर १९४८ को. यह बारा तेरा महिनों का जो वक्फा है, इन दिनों में हम पराधीन थे. और इस पराधिनता से हम लोगों को बहोत बडा लडा देना पडा. हमारे कई लोग पकडे गये, जेल में गये. उन्होंने सत्याग्रह किया. कई लोग भूमिगत हुये. निजाम और रजाकार इन्होंने बहोत जुल्म ढहाये थे. ग्रामीण भाग में उन्होंने बहोत जुल्म किये थे. लेकिन वहां के लोग कहीं जा नहीं सकते थे. लेकिन शहरों में ऐसे हजारो परिवार थे, जिन्हें पलायन करना पडा. इन लोगों को निजाम संस्थान के बाहर, पश्चिम महाराष्ट्र हो, विदर्भ हो, उन्होंने बहोत मदद की. उनको पुरी पुरी सहायता बाहर के लोगों ने की थी. हम आज भी उनके शुक्रगुजार है. हैदराबाद स्टेट की जनता ने स्वामी रामानंद तीर्थ के नेतृत्व में किये आंदोलन को, सरदार पटेल ने की हुई पुलिस ॲक्शन से सफलता मिली, और १७ सितंबर १९४८ को हैदराबाद स्टेट भी स्वतंत्र भारत का हिस्सा बना. तेरह महिने और दो दिन की प्रतीक्षा के बाद मिली स्वतंत्रता को यहां की जनता आज पूरे जोश और उल्ल्हास के साथ मना रही है. परिक्रमा के लिये छत्रपति संभाजीनगर से मैं हर्षवर्धन दीक्षित”

• India’s star javelin thrower and defending champion Neeraj Chopra has qualified for World Athletics Championships 2025 Men’s final today with his first attempt of 84.85 meters. Neeraj is aiming to become the third male javelin thrower in history to defend the World Championships gold title which he had clinched in the 2023 edition in Budapest. The qualification mark was 84.50 meters. Olympic champion and Pakistani player Arshad Nadeem is also participating in the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo. At the last edition of the World Championships in Budapest held two years ago, Neeraj Chopra created history by becoming India’s first world champion in athletics with a throw of 88.17 meters. Arshad Nadeem took silver with 87.82 meters. Among global challengers, the in-form Julian Weber is the season leader with 91.51 meters and Diamond League champion, while two-time world champion Anderson Peters, 2012 Olympic gold medallist Keshorn Walcott and Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch add further weight to the competition at Tokyo.

Benchmark domestic equity indices, Sensex and Nifty, opened on a positive note and extended their initial gains to end almost 0.4 per cent higher today. The Sensex surged 313 points to close at 82 thousand and 694, while Nifty advanced 91 points, to settle at 25 thousand 330. In the global crude oil market, Brent Crude was trading over 0.6 per cent down at 68 dollars and 2 cents per barrel.

लालगुड़ी जयरमण (अंग्रेज़ी: Lalgudi Jayaraman; जन्म- 17 सितम्बर, 1930, तिरुचि ज़िला, तमिलनाडु; मृत्यु- 22 अप्रैल, 2013) भारत के जाने-माने वायलिन वादक थे। ‘तेलुगू’, ‘तमिल’, ‘कन्नड़’ और ‘संस्कृत’ के संगीतकार के रूप में उनकी विशेष पहचान थी। अपने समृद्ध कल्पना, तीव्र अभिग्रहण क्षमता और कर्नाटक संगीत में अग्रणी संगीतज्ञों की व्यक्तिगत शैली को उनके साथ समारोह में जा कर आसानी से अपना लेने की अपनी क्षमता के चलते ये बहुत जल्द अग्रणी पंक्ति के संगीतज्ञ बन गए। संगीत समारोहों से मिले समृद्ध अनुभव के अलावा अपनी कड़ी मेहनत, लगन और अपने अन्दर उत्पन्न हो रहे संगीत के विचारों को मौलिक अभिव्यक्ति देने की दृढ़ इच्छा के बल पर ये दुर्लभ प्रतिभा के एकल वायलिन वादक के रूप में उभर कर आये।

Lalgudi Gopala IyerJayaraman, Carnatic Violinist,Vocalist & Composer Lalgudi Gopala Iyer Jayaraman…who is known throughout the world for hisheartrending performances in Carnatic music. His mesmerizing techniques andcomplete control over the instrument has made him one of the maestros in hischosen field. His music has always been melodious, rhythmic and stylish. Gaganendranath Tagore was an Indian painter and cartoonist of the Bengal school. Along with his brother Abanindranath Tagore, he was counted as one of the earliest modern artists in India.Gaganendranath pioneeredexperiments in modernist painting. Partha Mitter describes him as “the only Indianpainter before the 1940s who made use of the language and syntax of Cubism inhis painting”.

वामनराव बलिराम लाखे –

 

वामनराव बलिराम लाखे भारत की आज़ादी के लिए संघर्ष करने वाले छत्तीसगढ़ राज्य के स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों में से एक थे। 1913 में लाखे जी ने अपना कार्य क्षेत्र सहकारी आंदोलन को बनाया था, जिससे वे जीवन पर्यन्त जुड़े रहे। सहकारिता आंदोलन के द्वारा दु:खी और शोषित किसानों की सेवा तथा सहयोग करना उनका प्रमुख उद्देश्य था। सन 1915 में रायपुर में ‘होमरूल लीग’ की स्थापना की गई थी। वामनराव बलिराम लाखे जी उसके संस्थापक थे। छत्तीसगढ़ में शुरू में जो राजनीतिक चेतना फैली, उसमें लाखे जी का बहुत बड़ा योगदान था। उन्होंने अपना सारा जीवन राष्ट्रीय आन्दोलन और सहकारी संगठन में बिताया।

वामनराव बलिराम लाखे ने रायपुर से मैट्रिक उत्तीर्ण किया। माधवराव सप्रे भी उस समय उसी स्कूल में पढ़ते थे। दोनों में दोस्ती हो गई। सन 1900 में जब माधवराव सप्रे ने ‘छत्तीसगढ़ मित्र’ नाम से मासिक पत्रिका का प्रकाशन किया तो लाखे जी उस पत्रिका के प्रकाशक थे। छत्तीसगढ़ की यह पहली पत्रिका थी। सिर्फ तीन साल तक यह पत्रिका चली, पर उन तीन सालों के भीतर ही उस पत्रिका के माध्यम से राष्ट्रीय जागरण का युग आरम्भ हो गया था।

मैट्रिक पास होते ही वामनराव बलिराम लाखे का विवाह जानकी बाई के साथ करा दिया गया था। विवाहोपरांत वे उच्च शिक्षा हेतु नागपुर गये। सन 1904 में क़ानून की परीक्षा पास करके रायपुर में वकालत करने लगे। वकालत के साथ ही साथ उन्होंने सार्वजनिक, सामाजिक व राजनीतिक कार्यों में भाग लेना प्रारंभ कर दिया था। लाखे जी ने जब रायपुर में वकालत शुरु की तो उनका उद्देश्य था लोगों के लिए कुछ महत्वपूर्ण काम करना, ताकि उनकी दशा में सुधार हो। उनका उद्देश्य पैसे अर्जन करना नहीं था। उनकी पत्नी ने भी हमेशा उनका साथ दिया।
वर्ष 1913 में वामनराव बलिराम लाखे ने अपना कार्यक्षेत्र सहकारी आंदोलन को बनाया, जिससे वे जीवन पर्यन्त जुड़े रहे। सहकारिता आंदोलन के द्वारा इस अंचल के दु:खी और शोषित किसानों की सेवा तथा सहयोग करना उनका प्रमुख उद्देश्य था। 1913 में ही उन्होंने रायपुर में ‘को-आपरेटिव सेन्ट्रल बैंक’ की स्थापना की थी, जिसके वे 1936 तक अवैतनिक सचिव के पद पर रहकर कठोर परिश्रम तथा निष्ठा के साथ कार्य करते रहे और संस्था को उन्नति के सर्वोच्च शिखर तक पहुंचा दिया। 1937 से 1940 तक वे इस संस्था के अध्यक्ष पद पर रहे। उनके प्रयास से ही 1930 में बैंक का अपना स्वयं का भवन बनाया गया था।

Sitakant Mahapatra –

 

Sitakant Mahapatra is an Indian poet and literarycritic in Odia aswell as English. He served in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from1961 until he retired in 1995, and has since held ex officio posts such as Banking Ombudsman of Odisha and Chairman of National Book Trust, New Delhi etc. He has published over 15 poetry collection, 5 essay collections, a travelogue, over 30 contemplative works, apart from numerous translations. His poetry collection has been published in several Indian languages. Hisnotable works are, Sabdar Akash (1971) (The Sky ofWords), Samudra (1977) and Anek Sharat (1981).

He was awarded the 1974 Sahitya Akademi Award in Odia forhis poetry collection, Sabdara Akasha (The Sky of Words). He was awarded the JnanpithAward in 1993 “for outstanding contribution to Indianliterature” and in its citation the Bharatiya Jnanpith noted, “Deeplysteeped in western literature his pen has the rare rapturous fragrance ofnative soil”; he was also awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in 2011 for literature apart from winning the Soviet Land Nehru Award, Kabeer Samman and several other prestigious awards.
