And in a move toward affordable medicine, India will help set up **Jan Aushadhi centers** in Fiji – making **high-quality generic medicines** accessible to everyone, especially the poor.

Meanwhile, **Fijian rugby players have found fans in India**, especially during the Olympics and Commonwealth Games!

The 5th edition of Lok Samvardhan Parv is set to begin in Kerala’s Kochi, from tomorrow to the 4th of next month. The 10-day event organised by the Minority Affairs Ministry will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurian.

 

 

The 10-day festival will bring together over 100 artisans and 15 culinary experts from across the country. Traditional crafts including Zari and Chikankari of Uttar Pradesh, Phulkari embroidery of Punjab, Madhubani paintings of Bihar, Blue Pottery of Rajasthan, Pashmina weaving from Ladakh, and Bastar Iron Craft from Chhattisgarh will be on display. Visitors will also get to savour an extensive culinary showcase featuring traditional foods, spices, pickles, bakery products, herbal preparations, and coastal delicacies. Alongside the exhibition, the festival will host cultural performances and live demonstrations that highlight the rich artistic heritage of minority communities. Lok Samvardhan Parv is a flagship initiative of the Ministry, designed to provide artisans, craftspersons, weavers, culinary experts, and entrepreneurs from minority communities with market linkages and national exposure. By offering them a platform to showcase their art, craft, and talent, the Parv strengthens economic empowerment while also celebrating India’s vibrant diversity. Young Skaters of Ladakh Shines at the Asian Ice Short Track Speed Skating Trophy, Held for the First Time in India and won 6 medals. Let’s hear more on this from our leh correspondent.

 

 

 

On the final day of the Asian Ice Short Track Speed Skating Trophy 2025, held at the Himadri Ice Rink, young athletes from Ladakh made history with an outstanding performance on the international stage.

 

In a remarkable display of talent and determination, Mehvish Fatima (11 years) added one silver medal to her two bronze medals from the previous day, while Madiha Mustafa (8 years) secured another bronze medal. Adding to their success was Ladakh’s youngest Skater Fahiem Mehdi (7 years) who had already won a bronze medal on Day 1 of the competition. Together, these young skaters brought Ladakh’s total medal tally to six, marking a historic achievement.

 

Mehvish and Madiha made history by becoming the youngest skaters from Ladakh to win multiple medals in all the events they participated in. They are also the youngest girls from Ladakh to represent Team India in ice speed skating at this level. Their combined haul of five out of Ladakh’s six medals marks the highest international medal achievement in Ladakh’s sporting history to date. The event concluded with a grand closing ceremony graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami as Chief Guest. The tournament featured over 180 skaters from 10 countries, marking a significant milestone in the development of winter sports in India.

 

Under the expert guidance of National Coach Abbass Nordakh from Ladakh, whose tireless efforts have shaped the young Athletes Ladakhi skaters demonstrated exceptional skill and commitment. Their success stands as a proud testament to Ladakh’s rising prominence in ice speed skating and a moment of national pride for India. India bagged two gold medals on the opening day of the 30th Commonwealth weightlifting Championship in Ahemdabad, Gujrat. In the womens 44kg-48kg  category Priteesmita Bhoi lifted 63kg in snatch and 87kg in clean and jerk,finishing with the total of 150kg.

Indian shooters dominated the 25m pistol women junior individual event, clinching a gold, silver and bronze medals at the Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan today. Payal Khatri claimed the gold,Naamya Kapoor won a silver and Tejaswani claimed bronze in the final. They also added the gold in team event.

 

 

Earlier, the Indian trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha and Simranpreet Kaur Brar won the bronze in  25m pistol women senior team competition, finishing behind China and South Korea. However, India failed to open an account in Women’s 25m Pistol Individual event.

In the global crude oil market, Brent Crude was trading over 0.6 per cent up at 68 dollars and 17 cents per barrel, and WTI Crude was trading over 0.7 per cent down at 64 dollars and 14 cents per barrel, when reports last came in.

 

 

In the Indian bullion market, 24-karat gold was trading up at 1,00,800 rupees per 10 grams, while silver 999 fine was trading down at 1,16,530 rupees per kilogram, when reports last came in.
