Mother’s Day annually falls on the second Sunday of May. This year, it is on May 12. Mother’s Day honours mothers and mother figures around the globe. It is a day to express our gratitude, love and appreciation for them through words, gifts, selfless gestures, and a reminder that one day is not enough to thank them for all the sacrifices they have made for us in the past. The first phase of the simultaneous assembly and parliamentary polls in Odisha is scheduled to be held on tomorrow (May 13). Preparations are being made to ensure that undisrupted voting takes place in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha polls. In the first phase, voting will be held in Kalahandi, Koraput, Nabarangapur and BerhampurLok Sabha seats and 28 Assembly seats under it. A total number of 62 lakh 87 thousand voters will exercise their franchise at 7 thousand 303 polling centres in this phase of twin elections in Odisha on tomorrow. State Chief Election Commissioner Nikunja Bihari Dal said that we are fully prepared to conduct the polls peacefully and smoothly in these constituencies.

As per reports of Election Commission, a total of 37 candidates are in the fray for the Lok Sabha elections in Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Berhamur in the first phase. There are a total of 243 candidates contesting from 28 assembly seats under these 4 Lok Sabha constituencies. Out of 62 lakh 87 thousand votes, 30 lakh 97 thousand are male voters and 31 lakh 89 thousand are female voters. Kalahandi has the highest number of over 17 lakh voters, while the Koraput segment has the lowest number, about 14 lakh 81 thousand voters. There are 1294 centenary voters in the first phase of Odisha polls. Voting to take place in 12 hundred polling stations from 7am to 4 pm. Similarly, polling will be held till 5 o’clock in 3522 polling stations while polling will continue till 6 pm in 2575 polling booths. To ensure a positive and fulfilling electoral experience for voters EC has established all-women, all-differently-abled and all-young persons polling stations. मध्य प्रदेश में कल 8 सीटों पर वोट डाले जाएंगे । ये सभी सीटें मालवा निर्माण क्षेत्र में है। आज इन सीटों के लिए मतदान दलों को रवाना किया जा रहा है। इस दौरान कई नई पहल देखने को मिल रही है । इस बारे में और जानकारी दे रहे हैं हमारे भोपाल संवाददाता संजीव शर्मा:
मध्य प्रदेश में लोकसभा चुनाव के चौथे और मध्य प्रदेश के लिए अंतिम चरण में कल यहां की 8 सीटों पर मतदान होगा। आदिवासी बहुल मालवा निर्माण क्षेत्र में फैली इन सीटों में इंदौर, धार, रतलाम, खंडवा, उज्जैन, मंदसौर, खरगोन और देवास में कल मतदान होगा । यह आठ संसदीय सीटें 64 विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में फैली है। खास बात यह है कि आठ में से पांच सीटें आरक्षित हैं इसलिए इन सीटों पर 50 लाख से ज्यादा आदिवासी वोट निर्णायक भूमिका में है। वही,इंदौर में कांग्रेस प्रत्याशी के चुनाव मैदान से हटाने के बाद अब मुख्य मुकाबला भाजपा और कांग्रेस द्वारा प्रचारित किया जा रहे नोटा के बीच है। चुनाव आयोग ने आज मतदान दलों की सुविधा के लिए व्यापक प्रबंध किए हैं । मतदान सामग्री वितरण स्थलों पर लगभग सभी जगह मिनी अस्पताल की स्थापना की गई है ताकि गर्मी के दौरान चुनाव ड्यूटी में लगे किसी भी व्यक्ति को तत्काल चिकित्सा सहायता उपलब्ध कराई जा सके। इसके अलावा, एम्बुलेंस, अग्निशमन दल की गाड़ियां और पेयजल की भी व्यापक व्यवस्था है। मतदान दलों को गर्मी से बचने के लिए ओ आर एस घोल के पैकेट, आम पना, छाछ और अन्य सेहतमंद पेय पदार्थ दिए जा रहे हैं। मतदान दलों के लिए वाहनों की भी व्यापक व्यवस्था की गई है। दूर दराज के इलाकों में जाने वाले मतदान दलों के लिए सुरक्षा के भी व्यापक प्रबंध किए गए हैं। स्थानीय स्तर पर मतदाताओं को ज्यादा से ज्यादा वोट डालने के लिए प्रेरित करने के उद्देश्य विभिन्न प्रयास किया जा रहे हैं । यहां रंगोली स्पर्धा से लेकर नारा लेखन तक और जन जागरूकता रैलियां से लेकर वाहन रेलियों जैसे विभिन्न आयोजन हुए । स्कूलों और कॉलेज में मतदान की शपथ दिलाई गई। झाबुआ, अलीराजपुर, रतलाम और खंडवा जैसे आदिवासी बहुल इलाकों में प्रवासी आदिवासियों को बुलाने के लिए गांव के सरपंचों के जरिए विशेष प्रयास किया जा रहे हैं। इन इलाकों में स्थानीय बोली में न केवल वोट डालने की अपील की जा रही है बल्कि मोबाइल फोन और दीवार लेखन के जरिए लोकतंत्र के इस महापर्व में शामिल होने के लिए पीले चावल देकर आमंत्रित भी किया जा रहा है। चुनाव आयोग ने चलो बूथ की ओर जैसा व्यापक मतदाता संपर्क अभियान भी चलाया है इसलिए उम्मीद है कि कल लोग बड़ी संख्या में वोट डालकर लोकतत्र को मजबूत बनाने में अपना सहयोग अवश्य देंगे। परिक्रमा के लिए भोपाल से मैं संजीव शर्मा

Puducherry Jawahar Bal Bhavan has been started in the month of May, 1973 and is affiliated to the National Jawahar Bal Bhavan, New Delhi. Apart from conducting evening training classes, Puducherry Bal Bhavan is organising special training classes in the Summer days from the year 2002. This year Special Summer Training classes have begun on 2nd of May and will conclude on 31st of May. In Puducherry Region, this summer classes are being imparted in five centres: Main Bal Bhavan at Botanical Garden, Colacara Arangasamy Naicker Government Middle School, Lawspet, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kthirkamam, Government Higher Secondary School, Nonankuppam and Government Girls Middle School, Villianur. The sessions are being attended by children in the age group of 6 to 16 years studying in government and private schools in Puducherry Region. While contacting Shri.Manivel, Headmaster of Jawahar bal Bhavan said that nearly 1600 students are attending summer special training classes in the five centres of Puducherry Region and Identity cards were provided to all the students. Talented and qualified teachers are taking classes in Dance, Vocal, Violin, Veena Miruthangam, Keyboard, Drums, Drawing, Calligraphy, sports and taekwondo. Many of the teachers working in Bal Bhavan are recipient of State Kalimamani Awards. The Final Year students of Drawing and Dance Courses from Bharathiar Palkalaikkoodam are giving training to the students in the concerned subjects. The courses are conducted at free of cost with the intention of enabling the children in attaining their all round personality development. Even in these hot days, the students are attending the classes interestingly and enthusiastically. Classes are completed by 12 noon and the students are disposed immediately to enable them to reach their homes safely before any possible heat waves. Famous as the land of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan or JP, the Saran parliamentary constituency is witnessing an interesting political clash in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Saran constituency will go to polls on 20th May in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections along with Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur and Hajipur parliamentary segments. The main contest is between BJP candidate and sitting MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy and the RJD nominee Rohini Acharya. More than 18 lakh voters will decide the political fortune of 14 candidates in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections.

The Saran parliamentary seat is witnessing the clash of two political bigwigs again in 2024. BJP nominee and former union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy is again locking horns with his arch rival political family of Lalu Prasad, which heads the RJD. Mr. Rudy, who defeated former Chief Minister Rabri Devi in 2014 in a close contest and former minister Chandrika Rai from the RJD in 2019 with a big margin is seeking his third victory from this prestigious seat. This time Rohini Acharya, a political debutant from Lalu Prasad family is his political opponent in elections. Saran seat which came into existence in 2008 after the change of nomenclature of earlier Chapra Lok Sabha seat comprises six assembly segments. In the political equation of assembly segments Marhoura, Garkha, Parsa and Sonpur are held by RJD, on the other hand Chapra and Amnour seats are held by BJP. Mr. Rudy is enumerating works of development, all his initiatives to bring big ticket investment in Saran region under Modi government on the other hand Rohini Acharya is attempting to gain electoral advantage of the legacy of works done by her father Lalu Prasad. The Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency, traditionally considered a stronghold of the BJP is witnessing an intense battle between BJP’s Union Minister Piyush Goyal and Bhushan Patil, a veteran Congress worker with over three decades of political experience. Currently, five out of the six assembly seats under the Mumbai North constituency are held by MLAs from the ruling Mahayuti alliance. On one hand, Bhushan Patil has been campaigning on issues like unemployment, condition of railway stations etc. Piyush Goyal has promised to make the constituency a model constituency and has been playing up the Viksit Bharat 2047 agenda and Vishwaguru status for the nation. In the past, the BJP leader Ram Naik won this seat five times between 1989 and 1999 after which actor Govinda defeated him in 2004 elections. Presently, the seat is held by Gopal Shetty of the BJP. BIRTH
Sarat Pujari (8 August 1934 – 12 May 2014) was an Indian actor, director and producer in Odia film industry (Ollywood). He was originally from Jhaduapada, Sambalpur.
Sarat Pujari was born on 8 August 1934 at Khandapada, Nayagarh district, Odisha. His early education was completed in many schools all over Odisha. He completed his post graduation in Economics and Diploma in Paintings in Allahabad University in 1956.
After completing his education, he started his career as a block designer and publicity agent. In 1959, he joined as a lecturer in Economics in Panchayat College, Bargarh which he quit in 1966. Then, he joined Tapang Light Foundry, Nayagarh as a Works Manager. For so many years he worked as the Principal of Larambha College, Larambha.
He started his career as an actor in the sixties. He left service and became a freelance film actor from September 1966 to September 1968 to learn the technique of film-making.
He has also directed a few Oriya films, including Tapoi and Ashanta Graha.
The Government of Odisha conferred upon him the “Jayadev Award of 1985” for his significant contribution to Oriya Film Industry. He was also honored with first Hemant Das Kala Samman Award, Kadambini Samman Awards for 2010 & Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award for the year 2007.

बांग्ला भाषा की प्रसिद्ध महिला उपन्यासकार सुचित्रा भट्टाचार्य की आज पुण्यतिथि है। सुचित्रा की बचपन से ही लिखने के प्रति विशेष रुचि थी और लेखन का कार्य शुरू कर दिया था। उन्होंने शादी के बाद सत्तर के दशक के अंत में छोटी कहानियों के जरिए लेखन को गति दी। सुचित्रा भट्टाचार्य ने अस्सी के दशक के मध्य में उपन्यास लिखना शुरू किया। एक दशक के भीतर, विशेषकर उपन्यास ‘काचर देवल’ के प्रकाशन के बाद, वे बंगाल के प्रमुख लेखकों में से एक बन गईं। सुचित्रा जी ने विभिन्न प्रमुख बंगाली साहित्यिक पत्रिकाओं में लगभग 24 उपन्यास और बड़ी संख्या में लघु कहानियां लिखी। उनकी प्रमुख रचनाओं में मिटिन मासी पुस्तक श्रृंखला, दशती उपनिषद, जर्मन गणेश, एक्का, हेमोन्तर पाखी, नील घुन्नी, उरो मेघ, छेरा तार, आलोछाया, एनीओ बसंतो, काचर देवल, गभीर आशुख शामिल हैं। 12 मई, 2015 को ढकुरिया, कोलकाता स्थित उनके निज निवास में हृदयाघात की वजह से सुचित्रा भट्टाचार्य का निधन हो गया।
