The government is facilitating the development of India’s own foundational models, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and problem-specific AI solutions tailored to Indian needs. To foster AI research, multiple Centres of Excellence have also been set up.
India’s rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, underpinned by strategic government initiatives, have positioned the country as a global AI powerhouse.
Prime Minister said this while participating in the Outreach Session on ‘Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs and Artificial Intelligence’ in Rio de Janeiro ; that the progress and well-being of people largely depend on technology, especially Artificial Intelligence in the 21st century. The Prime Minister added that on one hand, AI can greatly improve everyday life, while on the other hand, it also raises concerns about risks, ethics, and bias. Mr. Modi highlighted that India’s approach and policy on it is clear, as it sees AI as a medium to enhance human values and potential. The Prime Minister also said, working on the mantra of AI for All, today India is widely and actively using AI in sectors including agriculture, health, education and governance. He noted that New Delhi believes that resolving concerns and encouraging innovation should be given equal importance in AI Governance and underlined the need to work together for Responsible AI.
With a clear vision for the future, India is set to become a leader in AI innovation, shaping the global AI landscape in the years to come.

PUDUCHERRY
Puducherry made a significant stride in cruise tourism last Friday when the luxury cruise liner M/V Empress, operated by Cordelia Cruises, anchored off its coast. The 210.8-metre-long ship, carrying approximately 1,231 passengers and 574 crew members, remained offshore during the day, with tourists ferried to land in smaller boats. This development marks an exciting milestone in the Union Territory’s emerging cruise tourism profile. M/V Empress, which began its second cruise of the month from Chennai today, is expected to return to Puducherry this Friday on its return journey from Visakhapatnam. More from our correspondent:
“The shimmering waters off Puducherry’s coastline are witnessing a fresh wave of maritime tourism as Cordelia Cruises’ M/V Empress commences its weekly anchorage near the Union Territory. The ship and its passengers were received with much fanfare last Friday. Tourism Secretary Manikandan welcomed the guests in traditional Tamil style—with flower garlands and white silk shawls.
The visiting tourists were taken on a specially curated city tour in luxury buses arranged by the Department of Tourism. The itinerary included key attractions such as the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Manakula Vinayagar Temple, and the international township of Auroville.
Speaking to Akashvani, Mr. Manikandan said the arrival of the cruise ship marks a major boost for Puducherry’s tourism sector. He assured that all necessary infrastructure will be put in place to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for cruise tourists.
The cruise liner had made a similar attempt two years ago, but administrative hurdles had delayed its visit. With all clearances now in place and logistics fine-tuned, its weekly anchorage is expected to bring renewed vibrancy to Puducherry’s economy—benefiting local sectors such as transport, handicrafts, heritage tours, and hospitality.

तिरंगे को फहरा कर या फिर तिरंगे में लिपटा हुआ आऊंगा, पर आऊंगा जरूर”। यह कहने वाले जांबाज शहीद और परमवीर चक्र विजेता कैप्टन विक्रम बत्रा की आज पुण्यतिथि है। परमवीर चक्र से सम्मानित कैप्टन विक्रम बत्रा 7 जुलाई 1999 को कारगिल युद्ध में देश के लिए शहीद हो गए थे। दुश्मन भी इनके नाम से थर-थर कांपते थे। विक्रम बत्रा को उनकी बहादुरी के कारण दुश्मन भी उन्हें शेरशाह के नाम से जानते थे। विक्रम बत्रा की शहादत के बाद प्वाइंट 4875 चोटी को बत्रा टॉप का नाम दिया गया है। कारगिल युद्ध के हीरो के अदम्य साहस और वीरता की कहानियां आज भी हमारी रगों में जोश भर देती हैं। कारगिल युद्ध में उन्होंने जम्मू-कश्मीर राइफल्स की 13वीं बटालियन का नेतृत्व किया। बत्रा का निधन 7 जुलाई 1999 को मात्र 24 वर्ष की आयु में भारत के जम्मू और कश्मीर के कारगिल में हुआ था।
Captain Vikram Batra passed away on this day in 1999. He was an Indian Army officer. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military decoration, for his actions during the Kargil War. On 7 July 1999, Batra was killed while fighting Pakistani troops at Point 4875 in the Kargil district of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir.

ये पंक्तियां है केदारनाथ सिंह की। आज उनका जन्मदिन है। समकालीन कविता के सशक्त कवि केदारनाथ सिंह का जन्म 7 जुलाई 1934 को उत्तर प्रदेश के बलिया ज़िले में हुआ था। उन्होंने अपना शोध ग्रंथ ‘आधुनिक हिंदी कविता में बिंब विधान’ आचार्य हज़ारी प्रसाद द्विवेदी के मार्गदर्शन में पूरा किया। उन्हीं की प्रेरणा से उन्होंने बांग्ला सीखी और रवींद्रनाथ टैगोर के बांग्ला साहित्य को पढ़ने का प्रयास किया।

He was also assistant director to his brother Feroz in Apradh (1972). After acting in a couple of films, Akbar turned producer-director with Haadsa (1983), starring himself in the lead. He also starred in his brother Sanjay Khan’s directorial venture Kala Dhanda Gorey Log (1986). After acting in Aakarshan (1988), Akbar turned his attention to the TV industry and directed the first 15 episodes of his brother Sanjay Khan’s epic TV Serial, The Sword of Tipu Sultan.
