The Government has recently launched Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2025. It is a nationwide rural sanitation survey by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) under Ministry of Jal Shakti. It is India’s largest sanitation survey in line with first Swachh Survekshan conducted in 2016, in which 73 cities were evaluated and Mysuru was ranked first in the country.

This project will conduct a comprehensive assessment of rural sanitation, with a strong focus on sustaining the achievements of the Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus Model under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G). The survey will involve sampling village evaluations and detailed surveys of households and public spaces to measure cleanliness across various parameters.

The evolution of sanitation in India is a rich tapestry woven with ancient wisdom and modern initiatives. From the Sindhu Valley civilization’s innovative toilet construction to contemporary nationwide movements, the journey reflects a commitment to improving public health and hygiene.

Despite historical innovations, India grappled with sanitation challenges, particularly in rural areas, affecting millions. In 2014, only 39% sanitation coverage was achieved, impacting vulnerable demographics, notably women and children. Recognizing the urgency, various initiatives were launched by the Government to address this pressing issue. In fact, Swachhata is not a one-time goal but a continuous journey. As we work towards a Viksit Bharat, sanitation must remain a sustained, people-led effort powered by true Jan Bhagidari.

Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2025 marks a pivotal step in reinforcing India’s commitment to clean, healthy, and sustainable rural communities. Unlike in the past, the growth of pilgrimage tourism in the country is in fast developing mode. The number of people visiting pilgrimage centers has increased. Kottiyoor is one of the beautiful landscapes and heritage temple sites in the state of Kerala. Vyshakha Maholsavam is one of the special events of Kottiyoor which is also known as Dakshin Kashi. The Kottiyoor Shiva temples are two famous Mahadeva temples in North Malabar region in Kerala. These temples are located in the Kottiyoor village of Kannur district. This rural hamlet on the banks of the River Bavalipuzha, is also known as Dakshina Kashi. These two temples are located on the banks on two sides of the river. The main deities of worship are Lord Shiva and Parvati. The Kattan dynasty of Puralimala has a historical connection with this temple. Therefore, this place was originally called “Kattiyoor”. Over the years, it changed to “Kottiyoor. The rituals begin with Neyyattam, means pouring of ghee, which starts with bringing of sword from Muthirerikkavu in Wayanad district. This pilgrim spot is famous for its 27-day Vaishakh festival. This festival is attended by lakhs of devotees from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The defence ministry conducted a mass redressal camp for ex-service men in Tiruchirappalli Army parade ground to benefit all those across Tamil Nadu. SPARSH grievance redressal camp was inaugurated by Honourable Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr.L.Murugan on 30th june where he flagged off five SPARSH mobile vans which is travelling to all districts of Tamil Nadu for the next 10 days to redress the grievances of defence and family pensioners at their door step. The Minister also gave away cheques worth 1.5 crore rupees to fourteen defence and family pensioners. The one day long camp was a grand success where more than 4 thousand pensioners from Tiruchi and other districts were benefited. More than 200 officers were deployed in resolving the grievances on the spot. “Officials from all defence pension offices across India participated in this day long redressal camp.

The Principal Controller of Defence Accounts Chennai, Prayagraj, and Record Offices of the tri-services and banks were also pressed in service.

SPARSH the System for pension administration (Raksha) is being implemented for meeting the pension sanction and disbursement requirements for armed forces such as ARMY, NAVY, AIRFORCE and DEFFENCE CIVILIANS.

The vision of SPARSH is “Right Pension at Right Time” A commitment to the armed forces in providing a secure and reliable digital platform for all pension related activities.

It is our duty to honour The Indian Army’s self-less service from the highest peak of Himalayas to the scorching deserts defending the nation from all threats.

Taking it as a topmost priority and special focus to safeguard the welfare of the ex-servicemen for their dedication, which extends even beyond the battle field the government of India and defence ministry is conducting mass redressal camps throughout the country which is 52nd of its kind in Tamil Nadu. Ernest Miller Hemingway

आज ही जयंती है आशालता वाबगांवकर की। वे मराठी और हिंदी फिल्मों की मशहूर अभिनेत्रियों में से एक थीं। उन्होंने कई फिल्मों में अपने शानदार अभिनय से बड़े पर्दे पर अमिट छाप थोड़ी थी। दूरदर्शन पर उन्होंने अपने कई सीरियलों से घर-घर पहचान बनाई थी। उन्हें मूल रूप से आशालता के नाम से जाना जाता था। वे गोवा की रहने वाली थीं और उन्‍होंने सबसे पहले कोंकणी और मराठी नाटकों में अभिनय करना शुरू किया था। आशालता वाबगांवकर ने कई शानदार हिंदी फिल्‍मों में भी काम किया था। उनकी पहली बॉलीवुड फिल्म ‘जंजीर’ थी। इस फिल्म में आशालता ने अमिताभ बच्चन की सौतेली मां का किरदार निभाया था। यह फिल्म साल 1973 में आई थी। वहीं आशालता को बॉलीवुड में असली पहचान बासु चटर्जी की फिल्म ‘अपने पराए’ से मिली थी। इस फिल्म के लिए उन्हें फिल्मफेयर का सह कलाकार पुरस्कार मिला था।

आज प्रसिद्ध उड़िया कवि, उपन्यासकार, कहानीकार, नाटककार और निबंधकार कालिंदी चरण पाणिग्रही की जयंती है। वह अपनी महान कृति ‘मतिरा मनीषा’ के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं। उन्हें ओडिया साहित्य में योगदान के लिए पद्म भूषण (1971) और साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था। कालिंदी चरण के काव्य में प्रणय, चेतना के मुख्य आधार निम्नलिखित हैं-

“प्रेम लज्जा का विषय नहीं, वह युवाओं का अधिकार है। प्रेम शाश्वत है। प्रेमी एक-दूसरे के परिपूरक तथा मुक्ति के पथ प्रदर्शक भी हैं। प्रेम से जीवन आकर्षक बनते हैं। इसी प्रेम को पाने के लिए कवि कालिंदी चरण बार-बार जन्म लेने की तमन्ना रखते हैं।“

Mario Francis Puzo (/ˈpuːzoʊ/; ) passed away on this day in 1999. He was an American author and screenwriter. He wrote crime novels about the Italian-American Mafia and Sicilian Mafia, most notably The Godfather (1969), which he later co-adapted into a film trilogy directed by Francis Ford Coppola. He received the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the first film in 1972 and for Part II in 1974. Puzo also wrote the original screenplay for the 1978 Superman film and its 1980 sequel. His final novel, The Family, was released posthumously in 2001.

आज जन्मदिन है विद्या विंदु सिंह का। उनका लोक साहित्य के क्षेत्र में जाना माना नाम हैं। कहानी, कविता, निबंध, उपन्यास, लोक गीत हर विषय पर उन्होंने अपनी कलम चलाई है, पर सबसे ज्यादा उनको अवधी लोक साहित्य के लिए सराहना मिली है। इसमें अवधी भाषा के लोक गीत, मुहावरे, राम से जुड़े कई ऐसे प्रसंग भी हैं जिनको सिर्फ कहा और सुना जाता रहा है। साहित्य में उनके योगदान के लिए 2022 में उन्हें पद्म श्री से सम्मानित किया गया है। डॉ. विद्या विंदु सिंह की 118 रचनाएं प्रकाशित हुई हैं जिनमें कविता संग्रह, कहानी संग्रह, उपन्यास, लोकगीत संग्रह भी हैं। उन्होंने खास तौर पर अवधी लोक गीतों पर काम किया है। साथ ही सीता के विषय में उनकी रचना ‘सीता सुरुजवा क ज्योति’ भी बहुत चर्चित रही है।

Dilip Narayan Sardesai passed away on this day in 2007. He was an Indian international cricketer. He played Tests for the Indian national team as a batsman, the first Goa-born cricketer to play for India, and was often regarded as one of India’s best batsmen against spin, although Indian batsmen have been known to play better against spin.

आज ही जयंती है मोहम्मद अज़ीज़ की। वे भारत के प्रसिद्ध पार्श्वगायकों में से एक थे, जिन्होंने मुख्यतः बंगाली, ओड़िया और हिन्दी फ़िल्मों में गाने गाये। उन्होंने कोलकाता के एक रेस्टोरेंट में गायक के तौर पर अपना कॅरियर शुरू किया था। साल 1984 में वे मुंबई आए थे। उनकी पहली हिंदी फिल्म ‘अम्बर’ थी, जो 1984 में रिलीज हुई। मोहम्मद अज़ीज़ ने पहली बार अमिताभ बच्चन की फिल्‍म ‘मर्द’ के लिए ‘मर्द टांगे वाला…’ गीत गाया था। उन्हें 80 और 90 के समय में मोहम्मद रफ़ी का उत्तराधिकारी कहा जाता था।

मोहम्मद अज़ीज़ ने अलग-अलग भाषाओं में 20 हजार से अधिक गाने गाए। ‘खुदगर्ज’ फिल्‍म का मशहूर गाना आपके आ जाने से… अज़ीज़ सहाब ने ही गया था, जिसे अभिनेता गोविंदा और अभिनेत्री नीलम पर फिल्‍माया गया था। मोहम्मद अज़ीज़ ने लता मंगेशकर, आशा भोंसले, कविता कृष्णमूर्ति जैसी मशहूर गायिकाओं के साथ युगल गीतों में भी अपनी आवाज़ दी। प्रसिद्ध गीत ‘आपके आ जाने से’, ‘काग़ज कलम दवात ला’, ‘दिल दिया है जां भी देंगे ऐ वतन तेरे लिए’, ‘मेरे दो अनमोल रतन’, ‘माई नेम इज़ लखन’, ‘तुझे रब ने बनाया होगा’ आदि।

He made his first appearance in films Odia film titled Jaga Hatare Pagha directed by Mohammad Mohsin. Later he appeared with a Hindi film titled Ambar (1984) and his two prominent songs, including “Mard Tangewala” composed by Anu Malik were introduced in Mard.

Mylswamy Annadurai was born on this day in 1958. He is an Indian scientist working as vice president for Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chairman, Board of Governors, National Design and Research Forum. He is often dubbed as the “Moon Man of India”.Before taking this assignment he was with Indian Space Research Organisation and served as director of the Indian Space Research Organisation Satellite Centre. During his 36 years of service in the Indian Space Research Organisation, he had some of the major contributions.
