Baisakhi, also referred to as Mesh Sankranti, marks the beginning of the solar calendar as the Sun transitions into Mesh Rashi, the first of the twelve zodiac signs. This day also coincides with several other regional spring festivals across India that celebrate the onset of the harvest season.
बैसाखी का पर्व आज पूरे देश में उत्साह और धार्मिक भावना के साथ मनाया जा रहा है। इस अवसर का न केवल सांस्कृतिक महत्व है, बल्कि धार्मिक महत्व भी है। 1699 में इसी दिन दसवें गुरु श्री गुरु गोबिंद सिंह जी ने खालसा पंथ की स्थापना की थी।
गुरु गोबिंद सिंह जी ने इस दिन सभी जातिगत भेदभावों को समाप्त कर एकता का संदेश दिया था। यह पर्व सिखों के लिए एक नया अध्याय, एक नई शुरुआत और धार्मिक सिद्धांतों के पालन का दिन है।
यह त्योहार धार्मिक, सांस्कृतिक और ऐतिहासिक दृष्टि से महत्वपूर्ण है। बैसाखी से ही राज्य के किसान फसलों की कटाई शुरू करते हैं।
बैसाखी पर सिख धर्मावलंबी गुरुद्वारों में विशेष पूजा और अरदास करते हैं। इस दिन विशेष रूप से गुरुद्वारों में भजन-कीर्तन का आयोजन किया जाता है। लोग इस दिन गुरु के बताए मार्ग पर चलने और धर्म के प्रति अपनी आस्था को और मजबूत करने का अवसर मानते हैं। बैसाखी का पर्व सिख धर्म के लिए वो समय होता है जब वे अपने गुरु की शिक्षा और खालसा पंथ के महत्व को मानते हुए एकजुट होते हैं और समाज में शांति, भाईचारे और समानता का प्रचार करते हैं।
आज पूरा देश जब इस त्यौहार को मना रहा है, उसी समय पूरा देश 1919 में अमृतसर के जलियांवाला बाग हत्याकांड में मारे गए लोगों को भी याद कर रहा है।
At its heart, Baisakhi is an agrarian celebration. It marks the end of the Rabi crop season and the beginning of the Kharif cycle. For farmers in Punjab and across northern India, it’s a time to offer thanks for a bountiful harvest and pray for continued prosperity. Fields are full of wheat ready for harvest, and villages come alive with celebrations, filled with music, dance, and feasting.
For many in Punjab, Baisakhi is also the start of a new year. Much like how people celebrate January 1st elsewhere, Punjabis use this day to reflect, reconnect, and restart. Families clean their homes, prepare traditional dishes, and dress in their festive best. It’s a time to forgive past grievances, make new memories, and embrace fresh beginnings.
In Punjab, in addition to the cultural importance, Vaisakhi has the a religious significance also. On this day in 1699, the Tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji founded the Khalsa Panth.
As the Nation is celebrating the festival, at the same time, it is also remembering those killed in Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar in 1919.
Celebrations of Baisakhi are all around. Sea of devotees in colorful attires are paying obeisance at GurudwaraTakhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib where the Khalsa Panth was founded on this day 326 years ago. They are also visiting Sri Harimandir Sahib in Amritsar and Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib in Bhatinda besides other Gurudwaras and are listening to the holy Gurbani. Langars and Chabeels are being organised across the state. Farmers are celebrating the day by formally starting harvesting the Golden Wheat Crop standing in their farms, after praying to God for ‘Sarbat Da Bhala’. The respectful Nation is also remembering hundreds of those innocents who were massacred by the British Officer, Brigadier Dyer in Jallianwala Bagh, where they assembled on Baisakhi in 1919. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, the festivals bring new hope, happiness and abundance into everyone’s life. Mr Modi said, the festivals celebrate the spirit of togetherness, gratitude and renewal. President, Vice President and Prime Minister have also paid homage to the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh.

World Sarcoidosis Day: is observed on April 13th each year and is dedicated to raising awareness about sarcoidosis — a rare disease that affects various organs, particularly the lungs and lymphatic system. The purpose of this day is to inform the public about the symptoms of sarcoidosis, its diagnosis, treatment, and support for patients suffering from this condition.
Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease that causes the formation of granulomas — small inflammatory lumps — in various organs. This can impair the normal functioning of organs such as the lungs, heart, liver, eyes, and others. The exact causes of sarcoidosis are not fully understood, but it is believed to develop as an abnormal immune system response to infections, toxic substances, or other factors.
Symptoms for this disease depend upon which part of the body is affected. In many cases, those with sarcoidosis will have the following symptoms:

⦁ Night sweats
⦁ Coughing
⦁ Weight loss
⦁ Fever
⦁ Swollen lymph nodes
If the condition affects the eyes, symptoms usually include dryness, redness, and pain. If the granulomas grow in the lungs, they may cause shortness of breath or wheezing. For some, symptoms go into remission without requiring any treatment. Others with sarcoidosis have persistent symptoms, some of which can be quite debilitating. There is no cure for this inflammatory condition. Patients who suffer from chronic sarcoidosis may require specific medications to treat the symptoms. Treatment options may also include physical therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation. Severe cases of the disease may require an organ transplant.

उत्तराखंड में 30 अप्रैल से विश्व प्रसिद्ध चारधाम यात्रा शुरू होने जा रही है। राज्य में चारधाम यात्रा की तैयारियां अंतिम चरण में हैं। यात्रा मार्गों पर सफाई, पेयजल, बिजली व अन्य मूलभूत व्यवस्थाओं को तेजी से पूरा किया जा रहा है। यात्रा के दौरान तीर्थयात्रियों को किसी प्रकार की असुविधा न हो, इसके लिए शासन-प्रशासन सतर्क है। प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी, पर्यटन एवं संस्कृति मंत्री सतपाल महाराज नियमित रूप से यात्रा तैयारियों की समीक्षा कर रहे हैं।
उत्तराखंड में 30 अप्रैल को गंगोत्री और यमुनोत्री धाम के कपाट खुलने के साथ ही चारधाम यात्रा शुरू हो जाएगी। रुद्रप्रयाग जिले में स्थित विश्व प्रसिद्ध केदारनाथ मंदिर के कपाट दो मई और चमोली जिले में स्थित बदरीनाथ धाम के कपाट चार मई को श्रद्धालुओं के लिए खोले जाएंगे। प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने कहा कि चारधाम यात्रा को श्रद्धालुओं के लिए सुचारू, सुरक्षित और सुलभ बनाने के लिए सभी आवश्यक कदम उठाए जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि यात्रा की तैयारियां लगभग पूरी हो चुकी हैं और इसे बेहतर बनाने के लिए निरंतर प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं।

In observance of the directive issued by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India, a ‘Jai Bhim Padyatra’ was organized today to commemorate the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The event, held in Gangtok, was jointly conducted by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, the State NSS Cell, and Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Gangtok. The initiative aimed to honor Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy and instill constitutional values among the youth.The occasion was graced by Shri Raju Basnet, Minister, along with other distinguished dignitaries. The program commenced with the reading of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, led by the Minister, setting a solemn and inspirational tone for the day. In Jammu & Kashmir, the mustard production is expected to record an estimated increase of 36000 metric tonnes in comparison to last year production in Kashmir region. This significant rise in yield is helping reduce the region’s dependency on imported mustard oil. Experts say around 40 percent of the total mustard yield is converted into oil.
Farmers across the valley have reported higher yields compared to last year, generating optimism for continued growth in the sector. Kerala government to launch a special campaign to enrol migrant workers’ children in schools and improve their access to education and welfare services.
In a bid to tackle the educational marginalisation of children of migrant workers, the Kerala State government will launch a month-long outreach campaign this May,travelling directly to migrant settlements to ensure every child is enrolled in school.The decision was taken after a recent high-level meeting thta highlighted the persistent educational backwardness among children of migrant workers, who often miss out on formal schooling due to frequent migration and poor access to public services.The campaign will utilise the services of representatives from local self-govt institutions, Kudumbashree workers, teachers from nearby schools, and members of parent-teacher associations. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that a comprehensive educational programme for the children of migrant workers would be announced soon.State education council (SCERT) will finalise plan by April 30th.To ensure continuity of education for children from migrant worker families who move seasonally, a registration system will be established in the areas they relocate to.
