The World Veterinary Day has a broader significance of promoting animal welfare worldwide.
Veterinarians play a critical role in the prevention and control of animal diseases, and they also work towards the improvement of human health through public and private veterinary services. One of the main responsibilities of veterinarians is to identify and respond to disease outbreaks early on. By doing so, they can limit their effect on both humans and animals. Veterinarians have an essential contribution in the development and advancement of veterinary medicine, which has a crucial impact on human and animal health.
We are celebrating the World Veterinary Day today which is an annual global celebration that honours the invaluable contributions of veterinarians to society. This day aims to raise awareness about the crucial role they play in maintaining the health of animals. The theme for 2024 is “Veterinarians are Essential Health Workers,” highlighting their vital role in safeguarding public health and promoting the well-being of animals and the environment.

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying in close collaboration with Veterinary Council of India organises events to celebrate World Veterinary Day. Some important roles that encompass animal and wildlife welfare would include :

⦁ protection of the environment and biodiversity by local community involvement,
⦁ and safeguarding our country by preventing the threat of bio terrorism.

To carry out these responsibilities effectively, we rely on the coordination of several departments to meet our objectives. One such department is The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying which is tasked with crucial responsibilities in ensuring the protection and well-being of animals, under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The Department is responsible for matters relating to livestock production, preservation, protection & improvement of stocks, dairy development, matters relating to Delhi Milk Scheme, National Dairy Development Board, Animal Welfare Board of India and Committee for Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA).
इसके अलावा, भारतीय पशु चिकित्सा परिषद, भारतीय पशु चिकित्सा परिषद अधिनियम, 1984 के प्रावधान के तहत स्थापित एक वैधानिक निकाय है। यह पशु चिकित्सा पद्धतियों को विनियमित करने के साथ-साथ सभी पशु चिकित्सा शिक्षा विनियमों के न्यूनतम मानक के माध्यम से पशु चिकित्सा शिक्षा के समान मानकों को बनाए रखने के लिए जिम्मेदार है। देश भर में पशु चिकित्सा संस्थान। देश में प्रशिक्षित पशु चिकित्सा कर्मियों की कमी को पूरा करने के लिए मान्यता प्राप्त पशु चिकित्सा महाविद्यालयों की संख्या अब बढ़कर 55 हो गई है।

मध्यप्रदेश में आम लोगों को मतदान के प्रति जागरूक करने के लिए विभिन्न प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं।
मध्य प्रदेश में पहले और दूसरे चरण में उम्मीद से कम मतदान के बाद,अब चुनाव आयोग ने मतदाताओं को अपने लोकतांत्रिक अधिकार का इस्तेमाल करने के लिए जागरूक करने की कवायद और तेज कर दी है। मतदाता जागरूकता अभियान के अंतर्गत “प्रत्येक वोट जरूरी है” विषय पर राज्य स्तरीय स्लोगन प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया जा रहा है। प्रतियोगिता में प्रथम, द्वितीय एवं तृतीय स्थान प्राप्त करने वाले प्रतिभागियों को प्रमाण पत्र एवं पांच हजार से लेकर 51 हजार रुपए तक के पुरस्कार देकर सम्मानित किया जाएगा। मध्य प्रदेश में अभी दो चरणों में 17 लोकसभा सीटों में चुनाव होना है। इसी लिए ग्वालियर सीट पर चुनावी राहगीरी के नाम पर एक अनूठा और रंगारंग कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया. इस कार्यक्रम में कई रंग नजर आए. यहां पांच सौ मीटर लंबा तिरंगे को लेकर एक किलोमीटर लंबी यात्रा निकाली गई. इसमें बीएसएफ बैंड, ओपन माइक, डांस , लोकगीत ,लोकनृत्य से लेकर घरेलू फ़ूड जोन के स्टॉल भी शामिल थे.
भोपाल में भी नुक्कड़ नाटकों के माध्यम से मतदाताओं को शत-प्रतिशत मतदान करने के लिए जागरूक करने का कार्य किया जा रहा है। नुक्कड़ नाटकों के माध्यम से मतदान का महत्व समझाया जा रहा है। इसी तरह सीनियर सिटिजन होम के सदस्यों ने भी मतदाताओं से बढ़ चढकर मतदान करने की अपील की है। उन्होंने लोकतंत्र के प्रति अपनी जिम्मेदारी निभाने का संदेश भी दिया। भोपाल में वृद्धजन मतदाता जागरूकता रैली का आयोजन भी किया गया। इस अवसर पर मतदाताओं को शपथ दिलाई। मतदाताओं को जागरूक करने के लिए बच्चों द्वारा भी अनूठे आयोजन किया जा रहे हैं। पिछले दिनों बच्चों ने कुछ प्रमुख इलाकों में मोटू,पतलू, टॉम एंड जेरी, छोटा भीम बन कर मतदाता जागरूकता का संदेश दिया। भोपाल के बैरसिया में स्वामी विवेकानंद शासकीय महाविद्यालय में सदभावना बालीबाल मैच खेला गया। इस दौरान महाविद्यालय की सभी फैकल्टी एवं स्टूडेंट्स ने उत्साहपूर्वक मैच में भाग लेते हुए ये मैच मतदाता जागरूकता को समर्पित किया। जिला प्रशासन और निर्वाचन के अधिकारियों द्वारा संयुक्त रूप से मतदाताओं को जागरूक करने के लिए दोपहिया, चारपहिया वाहन रैलिया का आयोजन भी किया जा रहा है ।इसके साथ ही शहर के वरिष्ठ नागरिक भी मुरैना में मतदान प्रतिशत बढ़ाने के लिए मुरैना वोट करेगा की थीम पर स्कूली विद्यार्थियों के साथ-साथ जिला प्रशासन व पुलिस के अधिकारी भी सड़कों पर मतदाताओं से अधिक से अधिक मतदान करने की अपील करते दिखाई दिए। इंदौर के सभी महाविद्यालयों में छात्रों को मतदान के अधिकार का महत्व समझाते हुए मतदान करने का संकल्प ऑनलाइन गूगल फॉर्म से भरवाए जा रहे है। इन सभी प्रयासों से उम्मीद है कि आने वाले चरणों में हमें और बेहतर मतदान देखने को मिलेगा। परिक्रमा के लिए भोपाल से मैं संजीव शर्मा

Odisha continues to reel under intense heat haves as mercury levels soared to over 44 degrees cesium in some parts of the state. Angul recorded 44.6 degree Celsius becoming the fourth hottest place in Asia on Friday. The day temperature in the district was above normal by 4.4-degree C. As many as 12 cities in Odisha have recorded more than 43 degree Celsius while 32 cities recorded more than 40 degree Celsius. Met department said due to prevailing mainly north westerly dry air and high solar insolation the day temperature is likely to be above normal by 4 to 6 degree Celsius over some districts of Odisha during the next 4 to 5 days and there is no sign of immediate relief.
The entire region of Odisha is boiling under intense heat wave since last 15 days. Manorama Mohanty, Director of IMD Bhubaneswar, stated that
severe heatwave has been prevailing in vast swathes of Odisha over the last four to five days, and the condition is expected to persist for the next four to five days. Angul 44.6, Boudha 44.5, and Bolangir recorded 44 degree Celsius yesterday. Met department issued red warning to Kendrapara, Bhadrak,
Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sunder garh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Bouda, Nuapada and Angul district and orange warning to 18 districts during three days. Seeing the intense of the heat, the government has issued advisory to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during noon time. In view of prevailing heat weather condition, the government of Odisha has issued an order to close down all schools and declared early summer vacation. On the other hand, the state reported its first sunstroke death of the season in Balasore district. The Public Health Director, Niranjan Mishra, shared that 71 individuals had been hospitalized across Odisha due to heatwave- related ailments, with Sundargarh reporting the highest number of cases at 35. Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has alerted hospitals to give immediate treatment if any patient admits having complained of heat stroke. Tapan Maharana for Parikrama from Cuttack.

लोकसभा चुनाव पर विशेष श्रृंखला के अंतर्गत आज हम धारवाड़ संसदीय निर्वाचन क्षेत्र की बात करेंगे। यहां 14 सीटों के लिये 7 मई को वोट डाले जायेंगे। धारवाड में पहला चुनाव 2009 में हुआ था।
“धारवाड़ संसदीय क्षेत्र में डीलिमिटेशन के बाद चौथी बार चुनाव हो रहा है। बीजेपी के मंत्री और चार बार विधायक रह चुके प्रह्लाद जोशी यहां से डीलिमिटेशन के पहले और बाद में पांचवीं बार फिर से चुनाव लड रहे हैं। उनके खिलाफ कांग्रेस पार्टी से उम्मीदवार विनोद असुती अपना पहला चुनाव यहां से लड़ रहे हैं। इस बार धारवाड़ से 17 उम्मीदवार चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं, जिनमें से छह निर्दलीय हैं। इस क्षेत्र में कुल 18 लाख 31 हजार से ज्यादा मतदाता हैं, जिनमें से पहली बार मतदान कर रहे मतदाताओं की संख्या 47 हजार के पास है और 85 आयु के ऊपर वाले मतदाताओं की संख्या 18 हजार छह सौ 26 है। इस क्षेत्र में मई 7 को मतदान होगा, जिसके लिए एक हजार आठ सौ 93 मुख्य मतदान केन्द्र और आठ अधिकतम मतदान केन्द्र खोले गए हैं। धारवाड़ लोकसभा क्षेत्र में आठ विधानसभा क्षेत्र हैं। सुधीन्द्रा, आकाशवाणी समाचार, बैंगलुरु।”

The primary contest here is between Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Brijmohan Agarwal and Congress national secretary Vikas Upadhyaya. Brijmohan Agarwal, a seasoned BJP leader, has consecutively won the Raipur South Assembly seat in the last eight assembly elections and currently serves as the School Education Minister of the state. There are more than 23 lakh 75 thousand voters in this Lok Sabha constituency, out of which about 11 lakh 88 thousand are females and 11 lakh 86 thousand are male voters. He won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for Aadmi Aur Insaan in 1970 and was honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. Khan has been called “the Clint Eastwood of the East”.

Wing Commander Trevor Keelor passed away on this day in 2002. He was an officer of the Indian Air Force who participated in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. He was honoured with many medals, including the Vir Chakra and the Vayu Sena Medal. He had an elder brother, Denzil, who was also honoured for his service in the Indian Air Force. Both brothers have a Vir Chakra for the same feat of shooting down Pakistan Air Force F-86 Sabre fighters. It was the first time two brothers had received Vir Chakras for the same reason.

Coretta Scott King was born on this day in 1927. She was an American author, activist, and civil rights leader, as well as the wife of Martin Luther King Jr. from 1953 until his death. ज़ोहरा सहगल एक प्रसिद्ध अभिनेत्री एवं रंगमंच कलाकार थीं। ज़ोहरा का जन्म 27 अप्रैल 1912 को उत्तर प्रदेश में रामर के रोहिल्ला पठान परिवार में हुआ। इनका असली नाम ‘साहिबजादी ज़ोहरा बेगम मुमताजुल्ला ख़ान’ है। थियेटर को अपना पहला प्यार मानने वाली ज़ोहरा ने पृथ्वीराज कपूर के पृथ्वी थियेटर में क़रीब 14 साल तक काम किया। इस दौरान उन्होंने कई फ़िल्मों में भी काम किया। जिनमें हम दिल दे चुके सनम, बेंड इट लाइक बेकहम और चीनी कम जैसी फ़िल्में शामिल हैं। ज़ोहरा सहगल को 1998 में पद्मश्री, 2002 में पद्मभूषण और 2010 में पद्म विभूषण से नवाजा गया। अतिरिक्त्त संगीत नाटक अकादमी सम्मान और राष्ट्रीय कालिदास सम्मान से भी पुरस्कृत हैं।
वे 1935 में नृत्य गुरु उदय शंकर के नृत्य समूह से जुड़ गई और कई देशों की यात्रा की। आठ साल तक वह उनसे जुड़ी रहीं।
ज़ोहरा दिल्ली में नए-नए शुरू हुए नाट्य अकादमी की निदेशक बनी। फ़िल्मों में काम करने के साथ उन्होंने गुरु दत्त की ‘बाज़ी’ (1951) राज कपूर की आवारा समेत कुछ हिन्दी फ़िल्मों के लिए नृत्य संयोजन भी किया। कुछ फ़िल्मों का कला निर्देशन और फिर निर्देशन भी उन्होंने किया।
