Union Minister for Health, Family Welfare, Chemical and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda along with Minister of State for Health, Family Welfare, Chemical and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel flagged off the chariot and ten other vehicles of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana in New Delhi, yesterday.
जन औषधि जन चेतना सप्ताह 7 मार्च तक मनाया जाएगा। इस महीने की 7 तारीख को जन औषधि दिवस मनाया जाएगा. कल इस अवसर पर बोलते हुए, श्री नड्डा ने सभी से प्रधानमंत्री भारतीय जनऔषधि परियोजना को एक जन आंदोलन बनाने का आग्रह किया।
The Minister also urged people to talk about it with their relatives and friends so that they can also avail the benefits. He said, it is the government’s responsibility to provide the medicines to people at lower rates and the government has done its responsibility.
सुश्री अनुप्रिया पटेल ने कहा कि फार्मास्यूटिकल्स विभाग के माध्यम से जन औषधि जन चेतना सप्ताह का आयोजन किया जा रहा है, जिसके तहत अनेक गतिविधियों के माध्यम से जनजागरण किया जायेगा। उन्होंने कहा, 2014 से पहले जन औषधि केंद्र सिर्फ 80 हुआ करते थे, अब देश के अलग-अलग हिस्सों में 15 हजार से ज्यादा हैं.

As on 28 Feb this year, 15 thousand Jan Aushadhi Kendras – JAKs have been opened across the country. Product basket of PMBJP comprises 2047 drugs and 300 surgical equipment which are sold at retail shops at 50% to 80% cheaper than branded medicines.
Under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana or PMBJP, the government has set a target to open 25 thousand JAKs by 31st March, 2027 across the country. The target of opening 15 thousand JAKs by March, 2025 has already been achieved by PMBI on 31st January this year.
In order to cover large category of medicines, 29 Major Therapeutic Groups like Antibiotics & Anti-infectives, Anti-Cancer, Anti-Diabetics, Cardiovascular Drugs, Anti-Allergic, Gastro-Intestinal Agents, Vitamins & Minerals, Food supplements/Nutraceuticals, Topical Medicines etc have been covered in PMBJP basket.

The ferry, which departs from Nagapattinam in the morning, returns from Kankesanthurai in the afternoon thereby completing a round trip.
India and Sri Lanka have age old relations even from Ramayana period. No wonder Indian tourists throng Sri Lanka to visit pilgrimage places and Budhist monasteries. As part of the reopening, ferry operators welcomed travellers with floral greetings. To encourage more passengers, the operator has revised ticket prices, setting the one-way fare at ₹4,250 and the round-trip fare at ₹8,500. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided onboard.
The service, has received a positive response from travellers on both sides of the Palk Strait. However, operations were temporarily halted because of adverse weather conditions and delays in obtaining technical clearances. With improved weather and necessary approvals now in place, the ferry service will be resuming soon.
The ferry service symbolized the enduring maritime connections between the Tamil populations of both countries.
This ferry service is a modern continuation of those ancient links.

West Bengal state government is planning to build a ‘multi-modal transport hub’ in Dharmatalla, the heart of Kolkata, to curb traffic congestion and reduce pollution. Let us hear more on this from our correspondent :
State Transport Minister Snehashis Chakraborty recently held a meeting with Army, Metro Railway Authority, Public Works Department, Kolkata Municipality and Police officials to discuss this issue. According to government sources, the officials of the transport department sought everyone’s cooperation at the meeting. RITES was given the responsibility of building a model of basement car parking where the Dharmatalla bus stand is currently located. The transport officials received the model a fortnight ago. On the basis of that this meeting was held.
This initiative to find an alternative route has started in the wake of the verdict of a public interest litigation filed by the Calcutta High Court to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in the Dharmatalla area. According to government sources, three metro routes will have stations in Dharmatalla in the future. The administration fears that traffic congestion in Dharmatalla will reach a critical point if all the routes are operational. Dharmatalla is already crowded with people. The transport department believes that it will increase by at least 40 percent if there are two more metro stations. According to sources in the transport department, work is underway to build such multi-modal transport hubs in various cities of the country including Patna and Pune under the Smart City project. Similarly, plans are being chalked out to build that hub around the metro station under construction in Dharmatalla.
