Climate change have profound impacts on the agricultural sector. Changes in temperature and precipitation patterns, increasing intensity of extreme weather events, and rising atmospheric Carbon dioxide are having direct and indirect effects on crop yields, water availability, nutrient cycling, and livestock health. According to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC, crop yields could fall by 10-25% by 2050 due to higher temperatures and extreme weather events. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) recently in a report said poor households globally lose 5% of their total income in an average year due to heat stress and 4.4% due to floods compared with households that are relatively better off. It also expressed concern about the negative impacts of climate change on the farming population in India.

As a precautionary measure the Government has taken several steps towards mitigation of adverse impact of global warming and climate change on agriculture in the country. The National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) provides an overarching policy framework to enable the country to adapt to climate change and enhance ecological sustainability. One of the National Missions under NAPCC is the “National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture” which implements strategies to make agriculture more resilient to the changing climate.

The 30-share index at Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, slipped 312 points, or 0.4 percent, to close at 78,271. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange Nifty-50 fell 43 points, or 0.18 percent, to settle at 23,696. In the Global Crude Market, Brent Crude was trading almost 0.9 percent down at 75 dollars and 52 cents per barrel, and WTI Crude lost over 0.8 percent to trade at 72 dollars and six cents per barrel, when reports last came in. In the Indian bullion market, the 24 Karat Gold was trading up at 84,750 rupees for 10 grams, and Silver 999 fine, is also trading up at 96,680 per kilogram, when reports last came in.

अभिनेता सुजीत कुमार का निधन 5 फरवरी 2010 को हुआ था। सुजीत कुमार ने डेढ़-सो से ज़्यादा हिंदी फिल्मों में, कई सुपरस्टार्स के साथ काम किया। 7फरवरी-उन्नीस-सो-चौंतिस को वाराणसी में जन्मे…सुजीत कुमार ने ज्यादातर खलनायक और चरित्र अभिनेता के रूप में काम किया।
बहुत कम लोगों को ही यह बात पता होगी कि सुजीत कुमार को फिल्मों में काम करने में दिलचस्पी नहीं थी। वो फिल्मों में आने से पहले वकालत की पढ़ाई कर रहे थे। उन्होंने कॉलेज के एक नाटक में भाग लिया। इस नाटक के जज पैनल में मशहूर निर्माता-निर्देशक फणी-मजुमदार भी थे। मजुमदार ने उनकी एक्टिंग की खूब तारीफ की और सुजीत जी को अभिनेता बनने की सलाह दी। और फिर सुजीत कुमार का रुझान फिल्मों की तरफ हो गया।
फिल्मों में सुजीत को पहला मौका किशोर कुमार ने दिया था। फिल्म का नाम था “दूर गगन की छांव में”।
सुजीत कुमार ने कई भोजपुरी फिल्मों में लीड रोल निभाया। भोजपुरी की पहली रंगीन फिल्म ‘दंगल’ के वो हीरो थे। उन्होंने फिल्म ‘पान खाए सैंया हमार’ का निर्माण और निर्देशन दोनों ही किया था।

भजन गायिका जुथिका रॉय का निधन 5 फरवरी-दो-हज़ार-चौदह को हुआ। 20 अप्रैल उन्नीस-सौ- बीस में बंगाल के अविभाजित हावड़ा जिले में जन्मी जुथिका, गांधी-नेहरू-सरोजिनी नायडू…जैसे…स्वतंत्रता सेनानी-नेताओं की मनपसंद-गायिका थी। जुथिका जी…मीरा के भजनों के लिए इतनी प्रसिद्ध थीं कि वो ‘आधुनिक मीरा’ के नाम से मशहूर थी। भारत सरकार ने उन्हें पद्मश्री से सम्मानित किया था।
जुथिका रॉय को तीस के दशक में खूब ख्याति मिली। सिर्फ बारह साल की उम्र में, उन्होंने अपना पहला एलबम रिकॉर्ड किया। उनकी प्रतिभा को कवि-काज़ी-नज़रुल-इसलाम और कम्पोज़र-कमल-दास-गुप्ता ने पहचाना। ये दोनों ही उनके मेंटर रहे। उनके भजन ‘घुंघट के पट खोल’ और ‘पग घंघरू बांध मीरा नाची’ काफी लोकप्रिय थे। हमारे पहले स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर नेहरू-जी ने झंडा फहराने के साथ उन्हें रेडियो पर लगातार गाने की विनती की थी। गांधीजी जब पुणे की जेल में थे, तब हर सुबह प्रार्थना सभा की शुरूआत उनके ही गाने बजाकर करते थे। रॉय ने दो बंगाली फिल्मों-‘धुली’ और ‘रतनदीप’-में भी अपनी आवाज दी।

हिंदी कवि, लेखक और आलोचक जानकी वल्लभ शास्त्री का जन्म 5 फरवरी–उन्नीस-सौ-सोलह को हुआ। आचार्य शास्त्री बड़े ही स्वाभिमानी और अक्खड़ थे। उन्होंने “राजभाषा पुरस्कार” को अस्वीकृत किया, तो अपने जीवन के दसवें दशक में…भारत सरकार के पद्मश्री प्रदान करने पर कहा…कि इस उम्र में यह “सरकारी झुनझुना” लेकर क्या करूंगा। पचास से ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण पुस्तकों के रचयिता आचार्य जानकी-वल्लभ-शास्त्री “राधा” महाकाव्य के महाकवि और “कालिदास” जैसे उपन्यास के उपन्यासकार थे। शास्त्री जी आत्मा की भाषा में लिखते थे। वे प्रेम और सौंदर्य के बड़े गीतकार थे। उनकी विचारधारा मानवीय मूल्य और संस्कृति से संपन्न थी।
आचार्य जानकी-वल्लभ-शास्त्री का आवास “निराला निकेतन,” हिंदी साहित्य तीर्थ के रूप में जाना जाता है। पूरे देश से साहित्यकारों-कलाकारों का आना-जाना लगा रहता था। नाट्य-सम्राट पृथ्वीराज कपूर से…उनके आत्मीय और पारिवारिक संबंध थे। गर्मी की छुट्टी में आचार्य जी मुंबई प्रवास करते थे, जहां फिल्मी कलाकार मिलने आते थे।
