Historic structures and monuments are global treasures, hence, they need to be nurtured to last for years.World Heritage Day, also known as The International Day for Monuments and Sites, is observed on April 18. The day was first celebrated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1983. The aim is to promote awareness about the cultural heritage and diversity on the planet.Its objective is to inspire people and local communities to value cultural heritage in their lives. Along with monument preservation, the day also aims to increase public awareness of the diversity and vulnerability of cultural heritage.. On this day, many organizations, societies, governments, and individuals come together to advocate the preservation of historical sites and to increase public awareness about their significance.

 दुनिया भर में कई ऐसे ऐतिहासिक धरोहरें हैं, जो सालों से अपने अंदर न जाने कितने किस्से और कहानियों को संजोए हुए है। इन स्मारकों और स्थलों को देखने के लिए दूर-दूर से लोग पहुंचते हैं। ऐसी विरासतों को संभाले रखने के लिए ही विश्व विरासत दिवस मनाया जाता है। हर साल 18 अप्रैल को आयोजित होने वाला यह एक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पर्यवेक्षण है। दुनिया भर में इस दिन को स्मारकों और विरासत स्थलों की यात्रा करके, सम्मेलनों में शामिल होकर, राउंड टेबल और समाचार पत्रों के लेखों समेत कई अलग-अलग तरीकों से मनाया जाता है।

World Heritage Day 2024: History

The International Council for Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) created World Heritage Day, also referred to as The International Day for Monuments and Sites, in 1982. During its 22nd general meeting in 1983, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization approved the date.

संरक्षित स्थलों पर जागरूकता के लिए सांस्कृतिक-ऐतिहासिक एवं प्राकृतिक विरासतों की विविधता और रक्षा के लिए 18 अप्रैल को व‌र्ल्ड हेरिटेज डे मनाने की शुरुआत हुई. ट्यूनीशिया में इंटरनेशनल काउंसिल ऑफ माउंटेन्स ऐंड साइट द्वारा आयोजित एक संगोष्ठी में 18 अप्रैल,1982 को विश्व धरोहर दिवस मनाने का सुझाव दिया गया, जिसे कार्यकारी समिति द्वारा मान लिया गया. नवंबर,1983 में यूनेस्को के सम्मेलन के 22वें सत्र में हर साल 18 अप्रैल को व‌र्ल्ड हेरिटेज डे मनाने का प्रस्ताव पारित हुआ.

Its objective is to inspire people and local communities to value cultural heritage in their lives. Along with monument preservation, the day also aims to increase public awareness of the diversity and vulnerability of cultural heritage. Experts from a variety of disciplines, including architects, engineers, geographers, civil engineers, artists, and archaeologists, come together annually for ICOMOS. These experts work together to protect some of the most stunning locations and significant monuments for future generations. The purpose of World Heritage Day is to raise awareness among local communities about protecting our cultural heritage. People from various places and backgrounds come together and exchange knowledge about their histories and customs. In addition, ICOMOS commemorates the day by working with UNESCO all across the world, drawing tourists and history buffs to such events.

Monuments In India:

India is home to a total of 3691 monuments and sites. Of these 40 are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As we observe World Heritage Day 2024, let’s take a look at some historical monuments that you can visit in India to mark the occasion

• Taj Mahal
• Red Fort
• Qutub Minar
• Humayun’s Tomb
• Temples at Hampi
• Sanchi Stupa
• Hawa Mahal
• Char Minar
• Ajanta and Ellora Caves
• Khajuraho Temples

1) Taj Mahal: The monument, which was built in Agra between 1631 and 1648 by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, is entirely composed of white marble. It was constructed in honor of the emperor’s beloved wife.

2) Ajanta Caves: The first and second century B.C. saw the creation of the oldest Buddhist cave structures at Ajanta. Considered masterpieces, the sculptures and paintings in Ajanta have greatly influenced artists.

3) Khajuraho: The Chandela dynasty ruled over Khajuraho between 950 and 1050 when the temples were built. Currently, there are only about 20 temples symbolizing Jainism and Hinduism that are still surviving.

4) Jaipur City: Jaipur, founded by Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727, is renowned for its distinctive urban design that draws inspiration from Vedic architecture. The pink city was constructed on level ground, but others were built on hills. Locals have managed to maintain its rich history to this day.

5) Hampi: The Vijayanagara Empire’s last capital was Hampi. Ancient travelers were in awe of the splendid temples and palaces built by the rich emperors.

6)आगरा का किला (Agra Fort)

यमुना नदी के किनारे बसे आगरा शहर में Agra Fort स्थित है, जिसे मुगल सम्राट अकबर ने बनवाया था। इसे लाल किला के नाम से जाना जाता है। यह ताजमहल से 2.5 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। ताजमहल घूमने आने वाले पर्यटक आगरा का किला भी देखने जरूर आते हैं। इसे वर्ष 1983 में वर्ल्ड हेरिटेज की सूची में शामिल किया गया था।

7)फतेहपुर सीकरी (Fatehpur Sikri)

आगरा जिले के Fatehpur Sikri को वर्ष 1986 में यूनेस्को ने वर्ल्ड हेरिटेज की सूची में शामिल किया था। फतेहपुर आगरा से 22 किलोमीटर दूर दक्षिण दिशा में स्थित है, जिसे अकबर ने बसाया था। फतेहपुर सीकरी में बुलंद दरवाजा, सलीम चिश्ती की दरगाह, जोधाबाई का महल जैसे स्मारक अपनी बेजोड़ स्थापत्य कला के लिए मशहूर हैं।

यह दिन हर उस देश के लिए खास है जो अपनी संस्कृति, ऐतिहासिक धरोहरों, यूनिक निर्माण शैली, इमारतों और स्मारकों की खूबसूरती को बरकरार रखना चाहता है और आने वाली हर पीढ़ी को इनके महत्व के बारे में बताना चाहता है। दुनिया में कई सारी विश्व धरोहरें हैं। यूनेस्को हर साल लगभग 25 धरोहर को विश्व विरासत की लिस्ट में शामिल करता है, ताकि उन धरोहरों का संरक्षण किया जा सके।

सिक्किम में 19 अप्रैल को, कल लोकसभा और राज्य विधानसभा के लिए एक साथ चुनाव कराने की पूरी तैयारी कर ली है। पहले चरण के मतदान के लिए चुनाव प्रचार बुधवार शाम से समाप्त हो गया है और जानकारी लेते हैं अपने संवाददाता से;

“सत्तारूढ़ सिक्किम क्रांतिकारी मोर्चा (एसकेएम), भारतीय जनता पार्टी बीजेपी, सिक्किम डेमोक्रेटिक फ्रंट (एसडीएफ), नवगठित सिटीजन एक्शन पार्टी (सीएपी) और कांग्रेस पार्टी इस चुनावी लड़ाई में मुख्य राजनीतिक दल हैं। एक मात्र सिक्किम लोकसभा सीट पर 14 उम्मीदवार चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं। इसी तरह, राज्य विधानसभा की 32 सीटों के लिए कुल 140 उम्मीदवारों में से, सत्तारूढ़ सिक्किम क्रांतिकारी मोर्चा (एसकेएम) और कांग्रेस ने चार-चार महिला उम्मीदवारों को मैदान में उतारा, जबकि नवगठित सिटीजन एक्शन पार्टी और भाजपा ने दो-दो महिला उम्मीदवारों को मैदान में उतारा। 19 अप्रैल को होने वाले मतदान के लिए राज्य में कुल 573 मतदान केंद्र बनाए गए हैं। इन मतदान केंद्रों में से 88 शहरी क्षेत्रों में हैं, जबकि 485 मतदान केंद्र ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में हैं। इस बार कुल 31 मतदान केंद्रों का संचालन महिला मतदान अधिकारियों द्वारा किया जाएगा, जबकि 6 मॉडल मतदान केंद्र स्थापित किए गए हैं। इस प्रकार एक मतदान केन्द्र का संचालन दिव्यांग व्यक्ति द्वारा किया जायेगा। 286 मतदान केंद्रों की वेव कास्टिंग इसी तरह की जायेगी।  सिक्किम में अब तक कुल मतदाताओं की संख्या 4,66,643 है। इनमें से 2 लाख 34 हजार 871 पुरुष और 2 लाख 31 हजार 769 महिला मतदाता हैं । इस चुनाव में लोकसभा के लिए एक महिला निर्दलीय उम्मीदवार और विधानसभा के लिए 12 महिला उम्मीदवार अपनी किस्मत आजमा रही हैं। परिक्रमा के लिए गंगटोक से डिल्ली राम दुलाल।“

The Central Leather Research Institute has developed and patented special footwear that can help heal wounds for foot ulcers and are at risk of lower limb amputation. More from our correspondent Joy from Chennai;

“Researchers said that the new footwear ankle foot orthosis is an offloading device that redistributes the pressure of the plantar, the tissue that connects the heel bone with the base of the toes, where most ulcers occur in the feet. The pressure offloading capability of the footwear would help fasten healing, particularly in high risk patients with diabetes suffering plantar ulcers. It will also reduce the chances of recurrence G.Saraswathy, Principal Scientist Shoe and Product Design Centre of the Central Leather Research Institute. said that people with diabetes run the risk of amputation if the foot ulcer does not heal in three months. Offloading the pressure at the ulcer site along with other clinical intervention will help it heal faster. People can wear the footwear everyday to keep themselves safe. Joy PARIKARMA Chennai.”

“उत्तराखंड में आगामी 10 मई से चारधाम यात्रा शुरू होने जा रही है। केदारनाथ, गंगोत्री और यमुनोत्री के कपाट 10 मई और बदरीनाथ के कपाट 12 मई को खुलेंगे, जबकि 25 मई को हेमकुंड साहिब के कपाट श्रद्धालुओं के दर्शनार्थ खोले जाएंगे। चारों धामों और हेमकुंड साहिब के कपाट खुलने की तिथि घोषित होने के बाद से जिला प्रशासन और मंदिर प्रशासन तैयारियों में जुट गया है। इस बार यात्रा के लिए पंजीकरण अनिवार्य किया गया है। इसके लिए 15 अप्रैल से ऑनलाइन पंजीकरण शुरू कर दिए गये हैं। पंजीकरण शुरू होने के तीन दिनों के भीतर ही 7 लाख 71 हजार से ज्यादा श्रद्धालुओं ने यात्रा के लिए पंजीकरण कराया है। सबसे अधिक 2 लाख 54 हजार से अधिक पंजीकरण केदारनाथ यात्रा के लिए हुए हैं। ऑनलाइन पंजीकरण के लिए श्रद्धालु वेबसाइट– registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.inके अलावा व्हाट्सऐप नंबर– 83 94 83 38 33 पर यात्रा लिख कर मैसेज करके भी पंजीकरण करा सकते हैं। पर्यटन विभाग ने टोल फ्री नंबर– 0135-1364 के जरिए भी पंजीकरण की सुविधा दी है। साथ ही स्मार्ट फोन पर touristcareuttarakhand ऐप से भी पंजीकरण किया जा सकता है। पंजीकरण के लिए नाम, मोबाइल नंबर के साथ यात्रा करने वाले सदस्यों का ब्यौरा, निवास स्थान के पते के लिए आईडी देनी होगी। साथ ही यात्रा के लिए हेली सेवाओं की बुकिंग 20 अप्रैल से शुरू होने जा रही है। पहली बार चारधाम यात्रा के लिए चार्टर्ड सेवा की सुविधा दी जा रही  है। परिक्रमा के लिए आकाशवाणी देहरादून से साक्षी सिंह.”

लोकसभा चुनाव की विशेष श्रृंखला के अंतर्गत आज हम चर्चा कर रहे हैं, महाराष्‍ट्र के पश्चिमी विदर्भ क्षेत्र अकोला निर्वाचन क्षेत्र की। एक रिपोर्ट–

“अकोला संसदीय क्षेत्र से भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने अनुप धोत्रे को मैदान में उतारा है, जो मौजूदा सांसद संजय धोत्रे के बेटे हैं। लंबी बीमारी के कारण संजय धोत्रे यह चुनाव नहीं लड़ सकते इसलिए उनके बेटे को महायुति गठबंधन से उम्मीदवारी दी गई है। कांग्रेस ने डॉ. अभय पाटिल को महाविकास अघाड़ी का उम्मीदवार बनाया है। वंचित बहुजन अघाड़ी के प्रमुख और डॉ. बाबासाहेब अंबेडकर के पोते एडवोकेट प्रकाश अंबेडकर भी इस सीट से चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं। वंचित बहुजन अघाड़ी की महाविकास अघाड़ी के साथ गठबंधन की चर्चा विफल हो गई है और एडवोकेट प्रकाश अम्बेडकर ने इस चुनाव में अकेले लड़ने का फैसला किया। वीबीए को उसके पिछले चुनाव गठबंधन सहयोगी ऑल इंडिया मजलिस–ए-इत्तेहादुल मुस्लिमीन-एएमआईएम का समर्थन प्राप्त है। अकोला निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में कुल 17 उम्मीदवार मैदान में हैं, इस क्षेत्र मे 18 लाख से अधिक मतदाता हैं, जिनमें नौ लाख पुरुष हैं जबकि 9 लाख से अधिक महिला मतदाता हैं। विदर्भ के अन्य चार निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों– बुलढाणा, अमरावती, वर्धा, यवतमाल-वाशिम के साथ अकोला निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में इस महीने की 26 तारीख को मतदान होगा। धनंजय वानखेड़े, आकाशवाणी समाचार, नागपुर।“

Our correspondent reports that the seat has become a prestige issue for both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. Here is more in this report:

 “Congress has fielded former Chief Minister of the state Bhupesh Baghel, While, the Bharatiya Janata Party has again showed its confidence in the present MP Santosh Pandey. A total of 15 candidates are trying their electoral fate from this parliamentary constituency. In the last three consecutive Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidates have won from this constituency. There are eight assembly segments under this Lok Sabha constituency. In the assembly elections held last year, Congress candidates had won in five of these, while BJP candidates had won in three. Many areas of this Lok Sabha constituency are located on the border of Maharashtra. Some of these areas are affected by the problem of Left Wing Extremism. A total of 18 lakh 65 thousand electorates are in Rajnandgaon constituency. Polling for Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha seat will be held in the second phase on April 26. Benchmark equity indices erased initial gains and ended lower for the fourth straight session today as investors booked profits amid geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia, elevated bond yields, and the corporate earnings season. The BSE Sensex plunged 455 points or 0.62 percent to close at 72,489, while the Nifty-50 declined 152 points or 0.69 percent to settle at 21,996. In the forex market, the rupee ended marginally lower at 83 rupees and 54 paise against the US dollar today. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, Gold futures for June contracts were trading around 72,630 rupees per ten grams. Silver futures for May contracts were trading around 83,636 rupees per kilogram when reports last came in. And…in intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading at 86 dollars and 32 cents per barrel.

Russia’s Ian Nepomniachtchi ascended to the top and became the sole leader of the Candidates after beating Vidit Gujrathi with black pieces. GM Hikaru Nakamura handed a crushing loss to R. Praggnanandhaa and joined Gukesh on second place with 6.5 points. In the women’s category, Both Koneru Humpy and R. Vaishali won their respective round 11 games.

Henry Louis Vivian Derozio was born on this day in 1809. He was an Indian poet and assistant headmaster of Hindu College, Kolkata. He was a radical thinker of his time and one of the first Indian educators to disseminate Western learning and science among the young men of Bengal. Long after his early death, his legacy lived on among his former students, who came to be known as Young Bengals and many of whom became prominent in social reform, law, and journalism.

डॉ. पांडुरंग वामन काणे – मृत्यु 18 अप्रैल 1972 में हुई थी। संस्कृत के एक विद्वान् एवं प्राच्यविद्या विशारद थे। भारत की अति प्राचीन वैदिक भाषा के रूप में यदि आज संस्कृत को विश्व की सभी भाषाओं की जननी माना जाता है और भारत की अति प्राचीन धर्म संस्कृति को यदि विश्व भर में बड़े सम्मान की दृष्टि से देखा जाता है, तो उसमें महान् भारतीय संस्कृतज्ञ और विद्वान् पंडित डॉक्टर पांडुरंग वामन काणे के अमूल्य योगदान को कभी भी भुलाया नहीं जा सकता।

दुलारी मृत्यु– 18 जनवरी, 2013, मुम्बई भारतीय सिनेमा की जानीमानी अभिनेत्री थीं। हिंदी सिनेमा में जानमानी अभिनेत्री दुलारी की आज जयंती है। जिन्हें आमतौर पर दर्शक एक सीधी-सादी और ग़रीब फ़िल्मी मां के तौर पर जानते हैं। दुलारी ने शुरुआती कुछ फ़िल्में बतौर हिरोईन और साईड हिरोईन की थीं और ‘आना मेरी जान मेरी जान संडे के संडे’ और ‘जवानी की रेल चली जाए’ जैसे ज़बर्दस्त हिट गीत भी दुलारी पर ही फ़िल्माए गए थे। ‘नेशनल स्टूडियो’ को सोहराब मोदी की कंपनी ‘मिनर्वा मूवीटोन’ ने ख़रीदा तो उन्होंने दुलारी जी को 7 साल के लिए नौकरी पर रखना चाहा। अगले क़रीब 35 सालों में दुलारी जी ‘जब प्यार किसी से होता है’, ‘मुझे जीने दो’ ‘अपने हुए पराए’ ‘आए दिन बहार के’, ‘अनुपमा’, ‘तीसरी क़सम’, ‘पड़ोसन’, ‘आराधना’, ‘आया सावन झूम के’, ‘चिराग़’, ‘इंतक़ाम’, ‘आन मिलो सजना’, ‘हीर रांझा’, ‘जॉनी मेरा नाम’, ‘कारवां’, ‘लाल पत्थर’, ‘बेईमान’, ‘सीता और गीता’, ‘राजा रानी’, ‘अमीर ग़रीब’, ‘हाथ की सफ़ाई’, ‘दीवार’, ‘दो जासूस’, ‘आहुती’, ‘गंगा की सौगंध’, ‘बीवी ओ बीवी’, ‘नसीब’, ‘रॉकी’, ‘प्रेम रोग’, ‘अगर तुम न होते’ और धर्माधिकारी जैसी क़रीब 135 फ़िल्मों में छोटी-बड़ी चरित्र भूमिकाओं में नज़र आयीं। और फिर एक रोज़ उन्होंने ख़ामोशी से फ़िल्मी दुनिया को अलविदा कह दिया।

ललिता पवार मृत्यु– 24 फ़रवरी, 1998 हिन्दी सिनेमा की प्रसिद्ध अभिनेत्री थीं। जिन्होंने अभिनय की यात्रा का सात दशक लंबा सफर तय किया। भारतीय नारी का जीवन जीते हुए एक संजीदा कलाकार जिन्होंने सिनेमा को कई यादगार फ़िल्में दीं। ‘जंगली’ की सख्त मां, ‘श्री 420’ की केला बेचने वाली, ‘आनंद’ की संवेदनशील मातृछवि और ‘अनाड़ी’ की मिसेज डिसूजा सहित अनेक चरित्रों की जीवंत छवियों को कैसे भूला जा सकता है।

वे सिनेमा के आरंभिक दौर से लेकर आधुनिक समय तक की द्रष्टाऔर साक्षी थीं। मूक फ़िल्मों की मौन भाषा से लेकर बोलती फ़िल्मों के वाचाल जादू के दौर को उन्होंने देखा। She holds a Guinness world record for the longest acting career, over 70 years. Pawar won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the comedy-drama Anari. उन्हें संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार (1961) भी मिला।
