For a century-and-a-half, the postal system has been a lifeline for people, governments and businesses worldwide. World Post Day is celebrated annually on October 9 to raise awareness about the role of the postal sector in our everyday lives, as well as its contribution to global social and economic development. It was during 255 BC when the first known postal document was found in Egypt. During the 17th and 18th centuries, bilateral postal agreements were used to govern the exchange of mail among countries. By the 19th century, the network of bilateral agreements became so complex that it affected negatively the trade and commercial development of countries. Now the need arose for making this postal network streamlined and simple at the international level.
पहले की चिटि्ठयों में होती थी कई गांव की बातें, बातें होती थी झूलों की, बातें थी सावन की, बातें घर-आंगन की। पूछा करती थी चिट्ठी में दादी मां का हाल, लिखती फागुन में आ जाओ, खेलेंगे रंग गुलाल। जी हां, पहले के जमाने में डाकिया किसी नारद से कम नहीं थे, चिट्ठियों के आ जाने से लोगों के चेहरों पर मुस्कानें आ जाया करती थी। वर्षों का इंतजार खत्म हो जाया करता था। आज उसी काम को मोबाइल और इंटरनेट ने काफी आसान बना दिया है। लेकिन फिर भी वर्षों से डाक व्यवस्था दुनिया भर में लोगों, सरकारों और व्यवसायों के लिए जीवन रेखा रही है. विश्व डाक दिवस हर साल 9 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाता है ताकि हमारे रोज़मर्रा के जीवन में डाक क्षेत्र की भूमिका के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाई जा सके, साथ ही वैश्विक सामाजिक और आर्थिक विकास में इसके योगदान के बारे में भी बताया जा सके.
1840 में, इंग्लैंड में, सर रोलैंड हिल ने एक प्रणाली शुरू की जिसके द्वारा पत्रों पर डाक शुल्क पूर्व भुगतान करना पड़ता था। इसके अलावा, घरेलू सेवा में वजन की एक निश्चित सीमा वाले सभी पत्रों के लिए समान दरें ली जाती थीं, भले ही यात्रा की गई दूरी कुछ भी हो। उन्होंने दुनिया का पहला डाक टिकट भी पेश किया। 1874 में स्विट्जरलैंड के बर्न में, उत्तरी जर्मन परिसंघ के एक वरिष्ठ डाक अधिकारी हेनरिक वॉन स्टीफ़न ने एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय डाक संघ की योजना तैयार की। उनके सुझाव के आधार पर स्विस सरकार ने 15 सितंबर 1874 को बर्न में एक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन आयोजित किया, जिसमें 22 देशों के प्रतिनिधियों ने भाग लिया। उसी वर्ष 9 अक्टूबर को जनरल पोस्टल यूनियन की स्थापना करके विश्व डाक दिवस की शुरुआत की गई। 1878 में, इसका नाम बदलकर यूनिवर्सल पोस्टल यूनियन कर दिया गया। यूनिवर्सल पोस्टल यूनियन अंतरराष्ट्रीय मेल के कुशल आदान-प्रदान को सक्षम करने की दिशा में एक बड़ा कदम था, जिसने बदले में आधुनिक वैश्विक संचार की नींव रखी।

This year marks 150 years of the Universal Postal Union, and the world will celebrate World Post Day with the theme: “150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations.” In 1969, World Post Day was declared by the Universal Postal Union Congress in Tokyo to promote the importance of postal services and their role in connecting people globally. Since its inception, World Post Day has been used to focus on the vital role of postal services in communication, trade and development. Today, the postal system is necessary for e-commerce, logistics and financial inclusion.

भारत में गर्भवती महिलाओं की सुरक्षा, पोषण और स्वास्थ्य का ख्याल रखने के उद्देश्य से प्रधानमंत्री मातृ-वंदना योजना की शुरूआत की गई थी। मध्यप्रदेश में इस योजना से महिलाओं को कितना लाभ हो रहा है, आइए जानते हैं हमारे भोपाल संवाददाता संजीव शर्मा से:
“कामकाज पर जाने और पारिवारिक स्थिति अच्छी न होने के कारण महिलाओं में गर्भावस्था में पोषण हमेशा हाशिये पर रहता है। ऐसे में गर्भवती महिलाओं को मजदूरी की हानि की आंशिक क्षतिपूर्ति के रूप में नगद प्रोत्साहन प्रदान करने और द्वितीय प्रसव पर बालिका जन्म को प्रोत्साहित करने के उद्देश्य से प्रधानमंत्री मातृ–वंदना योजना चलाई जा रही है। मध्य प्रदेश की करीब 43 लाख महिलाओं को प्रधानमंत्री मातृ–वंदना योजना का लाभ मिला है। सबसे खास बात यह है कि मध्यप्रदेश योजना के प्रारंभ से वर्ष 2022-23 तक निरंतर 5 वर्षों से राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर प्रथम स्थान पर है। राष्ट्रीय खाद्य सुरक्षा अधिनियम-2013 के तहत मध्यप्रदेश के समस्त जिलों में योजना का क्रियान्वयन किया जा रहा है। योजना के प्रारंभ से अब तक लगभग 43 लाख 81 हजार हितग्राहियों का पंजीयन कर 1 हजार 210 करोड़ रुपये का भुगतान किया गया है। प्रदेश में प्रधानमंत्री मातृ–वंदना योजना का लाभ हर पात्र हितग्राही को मिले, इसके लिये महिला–बाल विकास विभाग के अंतर्गत 100 दिवसीय विशेष जागरूकता अभियान संकल्प के तहत मातृत्व लाभ सप्ताह का आयोजन किया गया। इसमें लाभार्थियों के साथ इन्टरेक्टिव सत्रों के माध्यम से योजना के लाभों के प्रभाव का आंकलन किया गया और फिर उन्हें लाभ पहुंचाने के लिए विशेष अभियान चलाया गया। परिक्रमा के लिए भोपाल से मैं संजीव शर्मा“

To Raise awareness about the basic right to shelter a programme was organised at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu attended the event. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sahu said that the government is focused towards capitalizing on the youth’s potential and urged the youth to step forward in the development of the country. रवीन्द्र जैन (पुण्यतिथि)
रवीन्द्र जैन भारतीय हिन्दी सिनेमा के प्रसिद्ध संगीतकार तथा गायक थे। मुख्यत: उन्हें भजन गायक के रूप में ख्याति मिली थी। उन्होंने रामानंद सागर के महाकाव्य रामायण सहित कई फिल्मों और टीवी शो के लिए संगीत तैयार किया, जो आइकोनिक बन गए। जब भी रामायण के संगीत की बात आती है तो रवीन्द्र जैन का नाम सबसे पहले आता है क्योंकि रवीन्द्र जैन धारावाहिक रामायण के संगीतकार थे। मन्ना डे के दृष्टिहीन चाचा कृष्णचन्द्र डे के बाद रवीन्द्र जैन दूसरे व्यक्ति थे, जिन्होंने दृश्य-श्रव्य माध्यम में केवल श्रव्य के सहारे ऐसा इतिहास रचा, जो युवा-पीढ़ी के लिए अनुकरणीय बन गया। उनके प्रसिद्ध गीतों में:

गोपबंधु दास (अंग्रेज़ी: Gopabandhu Das; जन्म- 9 अक्टूबर, 1877, पुरी, उड़ीसा; मृत्यु- 17 जून, 1928) प्रसिद्ध स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, पत्रकार, कवि तथा साहित्यकार थे। ये उड़ीसा के प्रख्यात सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता थे। गोपबंधु दास को ‘उत्कल मणि’ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। उड़ीसा के लोग इन्हें ‘दरिद्र सखा’ अर्थात् ‘दरिद्र के सखा’ के रूप में याद करते हैं। गोपबंधु दास ने उत्कल के विभिन्न अंचलों को संघठित करके पूर्ण उड़ीसा राज्य बनाने की जी-जान से कोशिशें की थीं। उत्कल के दैनिक पत्र ‘समाज’ के ये संस्थापक थे।

Temsüla Ao
Temsüla Ao (25 October 1945 – 9 October 2022) was an Indian poet, fiction writer, and ethnographer. She was a professor of English at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) from where she retired in 2010. She served as the director of the North East Zone Cultural Centre between 1992 and 1997 on deputation from NEHU. She was awarded the Padma Shri award for her contribution to literature and education. Her works have been translated into Assamese, Bengali, French, German, Hindi, and Kannada.
She has published seven poetic works.

अमजद अली ख़ाँ (जन्मदिन)
अमजद अली खाँ एक प्रसिद्ध भारतीय सरोद वादक हैं, जो अपनी वंशावली को सेनिया घराने से जोड़ते हैं और जिन्हें भारत का अग्रणी शास्त्रीय संगीतकार माना जाता है। 1963 में मात्र 18 वर्ष की आयु में उन्होंने पहली अमेरिका यात्रा की थी। इस यात्रा में पण्डित बिरजू महाराज के नृत्य-दल की प्रस्तुति के साथ अमजद अली खाँ का सरोद-वादन भी हुआ था। इस यात्रा का सबसे उल्लेखनीय पक्ष यह था कि ख़ाँ साहब के सरोद-वादन में पण्डित बिरजू महाराज ने तबला संगति की थी और खाँ साहब ने कथक संरचनाओं में सरोद की संगति थी।उस्ताद अमजद अली ख़ाँ ने देश-विदेश के अनेक महत्त्वपूर्ण संगीत केन्द्रों में प्रदर्शन कर श्रोताओं को मंत्रमुग्ध किया। इनमें कुछ प्रमुख हैं- रॉयल अल्बर्ट हॉल, रॉयल फेस्टिवल हॉल, केनेडी सेंटर आदि। वर्तमान में उस्ताद अमजद अली खाँ के दो पुत्र- अमान और अयान सहित देश-विदेश के अनेक शिष्य सरोद वादन की पताका फहरा रहे हैं। प्रमुख पुरस्कार- पद्मश्री, संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार, तानसेन सम्मान, पद्म भूषण

Ronald Gordon Honeycombe
Ronald Gordon Honeycombe (27 September 1936 – 9 October 2015) was a British newscaster, author, playwright and stage actor. Honeycombe was born in Karachi, in British India. He was educated at the Edinburgh Academy and read English at University College, Oxford. He completed National Service with the Royal Artillery, mainly in Hong Kong, where he was also an announcer with Radio Hong Kong. Returning to the UK, he embarked on an acting career which led to television and public prominence as a national newscaster. He later settled in Perth, Western Australia, where he continued to work in radio, television and theatre.

Minjur Bhakthavatsalam
Minjur Bhakthavatsalam (9 October 1897 – 13 February 1987) was an Independence activist and politician who served as the chief minister of Madras State from 2 October 1963 to 6 March 1967. Bhaktavatsalam studied law and practised as an advocate in the Madras High Court. He involved himself in politics and the freedom movement right from an early age and was imprisoned during the Salt Satyagraha and the Quit India Movement.
