Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India’s achievements and successes have sparked a new wave of hope across the globe. He said, today the whole world is saying that it is the era of India. Addressing an event organised by a private news channel in New Delhi, Mr Modi said, India is driving global growth today and moving at a faster pace on the path of development.
Prime Minister Modi said, today’s India thinks big, sets ambitious targets and delivers remarkable results. He said, in the past decade, India has become the fifth-largest economy and is now rapidly moving towards becoming the third-largest economy in the world.
Mr Modi further highlighted that in the past ten years, India has become the world’s second-largest steel producer, the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer, and the third-largest startup ecosystem. He said, India is among the top five countries in solar energy capacity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Gujarat and union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu beginning today. During his visit, Mr Modi is scheduled to attend various programmes at Surat and Navsari in Gujarat and Silvasa in Daman. Prime Minister will visit Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu this morning and will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various projects worth 2,587 crore rupees at Silvasa in Daman Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli. Mr Modi will also address a public meeting at Silvasa. Prime Minister will then travel to Surat to launch the Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign. About 2 lakh beneficiaries in Surat will receive benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). Tomorrow, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Mr Modi will attend ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ in Navsari. Prime Minister will disburse over 450 Crore rupees in Assistance to 2.5 Lakh Women from more than 25,000 Self-Help Groups.
“On the first day of his visit, the PM will inaugurate the 450-bedded Namo Hospital and Research Center in Silvasa. Along with this PM will also inaugurate 25 projects worth over 1075 crores in the Union territory. These include Diu Fort Circuit House and Annexe Circuit House, Night Market in Daman, toy train on a 1.1 km long track at Namo Sea Front, 21 km long Khanvel Khedpa Road in Silvassa which has become an easy route from Khanvel to Jawahar and Trimbakeshwar in Maharashtra. The PM will also lay the foundation stone of 13 projects worth 510 crore rupees. They include the construction of 4 blocks of Marwar Hospital with a capacity of 300 beds in Daman, Sub District Hospital in Khanvel, widening of National Highway 848 B in Daman the construction of 12 new schools, development of roads of Daman and Diu. Today is Jan Aushadhi Diwas. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about the scheme and promote the use of generic medicines. With an objective of making quality generic medicines available at affordable prices to all, Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) aims to make quality generic medicines available at affordable prices. Our correspondent reports that the Chemicals and Fertilizers Ministry organised week-long activities across the country to support this initiative.
“Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana was launched in November 2008 to provide quality medicines at affordable rates to the public through dedicated outlets called Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras. The scheme provides medicines at 50 to 80 percent less rates than the market. It also provides medicines procured only from the certified manufacturers for ensuring the quality of the products. One of the major initiatives launched includes the Suvidha Sanitary Napkins at one rupee per pad only. Over 15 thousand Janaushadhi Kendras are now operational across all districts of the country and the scheme has created a promising avenue for self-employment, offering a sustainable and regular earnings. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai interacted with around 200 tribal youth under the Tribal Youth Exchange Programme (TYEP) in New Delhi yesterday. These youth, belonging to tribal districts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, are currently on a tour to the national capital. Interacting with these tribal youth, the Union Minister said that a lot of development work has taken place in the Left-Wing Extremism-affected districts of the country. He mentioned that networks of roads and railways have been developed, and new schools have been opened in these districts. Mr. Rai said that tribal communities have contributed a lot to the country’s struggle for freedom and preserving its culture. He appealed to the youth to contribute to making India a developed nation by 2047.

Budget Session of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is underway in Jammu. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds Finance portfolio, will present the budget in the Assembly today.

US President Donald Trump has postponed 25 percent tariffs on many imports from Mexico and some imports from Canada for a month. Trump said, he is putting on hold sweeping tariffs that he recently imposed on Mexican imports until April 2nd, after a conversation with his Mexican counterpart, Claudia Sheinbaum. He cited their positive relationship as the reason behind his move. US President said that, for now, fresh tariffs will not apply to trade that comes under North American trade partnership between the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Sheinbaum hailed Trump’s decision after a phone call between the two leaders. Trump has insisted that the tariffs could be resolved by fixing the trade deficit

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied with lightning at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Sikkim.
