Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the upcoming Noida International Airport will boost connectivity and Ease of Living for the National Capital Region and Uttar Pradesh. In a post on social media platform X, Mr Modi said, his government has been taking many steps to ensure top-quality infrastructure for the people and leverage the power of connectivity to further prosperity.

 

“The Noida International Airport in Greater Noida witnessed a historic moment yesterday as its first-ever flight landed, amid the ongoing trials, and was accorded a ceremonial water cannon salute. The trial flight, which came from Delhi and landed at 1.30 PM, was carrying Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials, and technical experts. It was a crucial step in testing the airport’s readiness. The team onboard gathered comprehensive technical data during the take-off, flight, and landing phases to ensure operational safety and efficiency. Trials will continue till December 15. The first commercial flight from the airport is expected to take off in April 2025. Upon completion, the airport will become the fourth largest in Asia. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that government plans to appoint 2 lakh Bima Sakhis or insurance agents over the next three years. Addressing a function to launch ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ in Panipat, Ms Sitharaman said, 25 thousand Bima Sakhis will be appointed this year. Finance Minister said, each woman insurance agent volunteer will receive a stipend of 7,000 rupees per month in the first year, 6,000 rupees per month in the second year, and 5,000 rupees per month in the third year.

Human Rights Day is being celebrated today. The day is celebrated on 10th of December every year to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The declaration was adopted and proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1948 as the shared standard yard stick to protect human rights across the globe. The theme for this year is “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now”. The theme emphasises that human rights are not just aspirational but also a practical tool for empowering individuals and communities to create a better future.
President Droupadi Murmu will address a program organised by the National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi today on the occasion of Human Rights Day. In a statement, NHRC said that the day’s celebration will be followed by a day-long National Conference on Mental well-being: Navigating stress from classroom to workplace.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Russian counterpart Andrey Belousov will co-chair 21st meeting of India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation in Moscow today. The two leaders will review the entire range of multi-faceted relations between the two countries in the field of defence, including military-to-military and industrial cooperation. They will also exchange views on contemporary regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Rajnath Singh will also pay tribute to Soviet soldiers at the ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ in Moscow and interact with the Indian community.

The 7th Smart India Hackathon will begin tomorrow. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will virtually inaugurate the program. This program will commence in 51 centers across the country. It also includes 4 educational institutes of Chhattisgarh.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu is set to host the grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon 2024 (Software Edition) tomorrow. Three teams from IIT Jammu will also participate in this prestigious event, representing the institute at nodal centers in Karnataka, Delhi and Guwahati.

 

The first Smart India Hackathon was launched in 2017 in Pune which focused on software solutions and since then 6 successful editions have been organized. The 7th edition of Smart India Hackathon was launched in August this year and its final round of challenges will begin on December 11, 2024 at 51 centres across the country. The stage is set for the finals of Smart India Hackathon at IIT Jammu, and the excitement is at its peak! Professor Manoj Kumar Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu addressed a press conference in this regard on Monday. Supreme Court Judge and Executive Chairman of National Legal Services Authority, NALSA Justice B R  Gavai has said that over seven crore 70 lakh cases were disposed off  by organising three National Lok Adalats this year. In these Lok Adalats, conducted by NALSA, pending cases and legal disputes were settled. In an interview on the occasion of Human Rights Day, Justice B R Gavai said that NALSA organises  National Lok Adalats thrice in a year in the country where cases pending in the courts for many years are settled amicably.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that to mark the completion of one year of the state government, Jan Kalyan Parv will be celebrated in the entire state from 11th  December to 26th of January. Addressing media in New Delhi, Dr Yadav said that under this campaign, the focus will be on the development and welfare of youth, women, farmers and the poor. Senior Karnataka politician and former Chief Minister S. M. Krishna passed away at the age of 92 early this morning at his residence in Sadashivanagar, Bengaluru due to age-related health issues. Krishna, who was recently admitted to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru, had been discharged following treatment. However, his health deteriorated afterward.
